I'm really looking forward to growing Hibor this year :).

I'm looking for a high-cis-lycopene tomato called "Golden Grape" . There are a few around, but they do not match the picture/colour of the one from Trade Winds Fruit. Unfortunately, Trade Winds stopped selling it in 2014, so maybe the flavour wasn't that wonderful, or perhaps people aren't all that keen on grape tomatoes :(.

I grew Ruby Crush this season - It is determinate, super productive, skin is not thick, doesn't split. I started them on Aug 19 and was eating tomatoes on October 15. Crazy I know.
I grew them in an Earthbox and needed to add the extenders to the cages, but they only used about a foot of the extenders. It just kept on producing and producing. It doesn't taste as good as Sun Doice, but seeds for Sun Doice are not available in the US. It did taste better than any other grape shaped tomato that I tried. |
I'm curious if that Aldi grape was by chance named "Zima"? If so, I can tell you a ton of things about the genetics, where it was developed, who developed it, and a few things about how and why it was released.
It's tough to know the name of a commercial tomato. They are almost always released under a brand name. And the actual variety under that name remains unknown, and also they can change during the years. Recently I've seen some saying on the packet the variety name, but it's uncommon. |
It's indeterminate but Tokita has SunGrape - it tastes great. (sweet, thin skin). I don't know why I forgot about it. Seeds are available in US from Osborne Seeds; I don't know if they are available anywhere else.

@Barb_FL-
Thanks for posting. Great picture (as always). I just ordered some Ruby Crush from Totally Tomatoes. I'd definitely rather have a Det. plant that can comfortably grow in an EarthBox. BTW, is that one plant or two in the picture? |
I've just planted some Sprite seeds. Apparently it is compact and grows 3-4', so I'll try it in a 3-gallon container.

Linda
Please let us know how it does for you. That was going to be my choice until I heard of Ruby Crush. |
I will, and you can tell me what you think of Ruby :).

Ruby Crush Update #1
First report. I bought Ruby Crush seeds from Totally Tomatoes, and planted the seeds on 3-21-21. 100% germination in 5 days. Although listed as a DET variety, It was obvious at the start that RC was going to be relative tall. It actually grew like an IND cherry tomato. If the seeds were started outdoors, the results might be different, but under lights, it really started stretching. It is now in the ground next to Sun Orange and Pink Cherrywine. It will be interesting to see just how big this plant gets.

I'm growing Komohana Grape this year, which is supposed to be a determinate (3' high) red grape tomato. I got seeds via MMMM a few years ago. Here are some descriptions:

I grew Komohana last year with great succes, I love the cherry tomatoes, and luckily there are so many to try every year.

Celano Hybrid Grape Tomato
I am trying this grape tomato this year.
https://all-americaselections.org/product/tomato-celano/#:~:text=Celano%20is%20a%20patio%20type,each. The description sounds great. So far my plants are healthy and off to a great start. They are starting to bloom. Will post some pictures when the tomatoes form. |
Good info on both Celano and Komohana! Thanks.
