Thank you for posting pictures, Remy! If I had been at work today, there would have been NO pictures!

Here are some pictures of PEOPLE, finally!

- Our hostess, Remy

- Cindi and Rob

- Tara, plant swap hostess. She was going to a wedding later that day!

- Rob won the prize for largest tomato.

- Zana crossed the border from Canada to attend. She didn't really like to have her picture taken, so I will only post this one! Nope, I am no paparazzo!

- Ginny B, Eileen and Marilyn enjoying the taste fest!

- Front from left: Coleen, Terry (tomatoaddict), Peggy and Desi. Back from left: Patty, Marcia, Michael with his daughter, Mr Head Less, Dawn, Pomona (penguingardener), Larry.

- Michael. He took the group picture!

- Pomona (penguingardener). She recognized a fellow photographer in me and urged me to try her and Michael's fantastic lenses. I would never have asked myself to try them, and I was in heaven trying out her Canon 75-200 mm f2.8 L. Thank you so much, Pomona!

- Patty. Patty runs the Fireside Inn in East Concord, where the first WNY tomato fest with public access took place a couple of weeks ago. A gorgeous place and a great event!

- Marcia. She won two prizes. Boldest and Ugliest tomato. Marcia was the coordinator for the public access tomato fest in East Concord together with Patty. I am so happy that they could come to our taste fest!

- Gary, our host and Remy's husband! Thank you for your hospitality, Gary!

- Sheryl, Remy's sister-in-law. She took the pictures that Remy posted!

- Mr Tomato Head receiving prize for smallest tomato.

- Zana took this picture. (Yes, Zana was behind the camera too, not only in front of it.) I was surpriced to win the prize for sweetest tomato.

- Norm was the oldest grower at the taste fest!

Here's to you, Carolyn! A lover of tomatoes, a lover of hearts, and a lover of chocolate, here is all in one picture: A chocolate colored, heart shaped tomato!

Physically you were not there, but you were there in spirit, and I suspect that many of the varieties that we tasted, would not have been there if it hadn't been for you! Thank you for being there in spirit and for your contribution!

Hilde, you know me well when you say a lover of tomatoes, hearts and chocolates.

And you have no idea how very much I'd love to go to any of the Tville gatherings, but it just isn't possible these days.:(

What is that tomato variety your show? Brad's Black Heart, and I can't see what the bottom looks like, or one of the blacks that grew squished out flatter?:)

Great photos and details of your wonderful event - thanks to you all for posting and sharing! :D

I would have attended if I hadn't already made plans to attend the Monticello heirloom festival, but you can count me in for 2008!

... and since I've let people see what I actually look like here via photos, there's no excuse for anyone else. ;)

((( I know. )))

The tomato variety is Black Sea Man, a Russian variety, PL. The grower is Marcia, and it won the prize for the boldest tomato!

I liked it a lot and was lucky to leave with the tomato that was left in the end (Marcia brought four, including the heart shaped one). I harvested the seeds tonight. Such a beautiful tomato, gorgeous on the inside when cut.

Hilde,
I still can't believe you took all those photos! Great Job:D
I'm also amazed we had 90 varieties and only 5 repeats!

Carolyn,
I did speak of you(and your "sigh") as we were cutting tomatoes. I brought a couple real Box Car Willies that I grew from seeds from you.:D

Looks like you all had a wonderful time..The Maters look awesome.
For some reason I can tell the difference between a normal person tomato and a T-villian Tomato:D

My niece lives in Lakeview NY, just south of Buffalo..Looks like the DW and I need to visit this time next year!

remy September 11, 2007 09:26 AM

Dave,
You know we would love to have you show up at our party! You could do a little mini vacation like Gary and I did for CHOPTAG.:D
Remy
PS Look I figured out how to do an avatar.

I don't think the winners post ever made it here so here's a repost from that thread, less time-related comments:

Sweetest by a long shot -Sweet Gold grown by Hilde
2nd place was Sungold grown by Mark Korney

Ugliest was grown by Marcia Ritchie, but I don't know what variety it really was!

Boldest Flavor was a tie between Black Sea Man grown by Marcia Ritchie, and Azchoyka grown by me and Hilde. Norm the eldest grower there was the tie breaker(who voted for neither) and picked Black Sea Man

Smallest went to Sungold grown by Mark Korney.
Second place went to Gardener's Delight grown by me.

Biggest went to Earl's Faux grown by Rob Kavanaugh at 1lb 8.7 oz
There were quite a few close in weight grown by Mark Korney

Best Overall went to Earl's Faux grown by Rob Kavanaugh.(I also had Earl's there too, but I think Rob's was much better.)
Second place was Stump of the World grown by me.
Third place was a tie between Black Russian grown by Norm Brown and Black Cherry, I think was grown by Marcia Ritchie.

I'm so happy it everything turned out so well. We had such a wonderful group of people show up!!!

You mean Terry didn't go home and freeze that Red Barn that won at CHOPTAG for the biggest or stuff some lead buckshot in one

Remy, we travel to Lakeview every 4th of July. I am sure we can make another trip during the year. My garden went downhill quick after CHOPTAG. Hopefully next year they will last long enough to bring some up. Looks like you all didnt have a problem bringing your own though;)

Dave,
"You mean Terry didn't go home and freeze that Red Barn"!
I would of died laughing there on the spot if she did that! She did say her garden went down hill too and didn't bring any tomatoes along except one for the ugliest contest. It was great having her there anyway, and she brought along some yummy food! We definitely had more than enough tomatoes.
So next year if you can come, tomatoes or not, you know you are more than welcome to be there.:D

Jerry,
Thanks! We didn't get any pics but some people also brought very pretty peppers that you would of loved.
