Some young friends of mine turned up one day with half a dozen tins, said there was a shortage and you couldn't get it any more. :yes: So into my apocalypse larder. (and yet, there's none left now already!)

Okay, what are fussels? I thought maybe it was a typo at first.

We had both apricot glazed ham and baby back ribs, with mashed potatoes. Hubby is a boring meat and potatoes guy. For sides, I had a great salad loaded with goodies from the farmers' market (French Breakfast radishes, fresh salad greens, sunflower sprouts) and our garden. I also prepared some collard flower shoots (you cook them like asparagus) sauteed with garlic and wild Black Trumpet mushrooms also from the Farmers' market. So very good and you won't find that in any grocery store.

(i'm afraid to ask) Looks like the storm that just passed us in NY is heading your way...

We will have to hop the PortAuxBasques ferry and i have some wiggle room so we don't get stuck on it. (and why we get a cabin). We were there during storm Igor.

It does look like the weather will soften up here by next Tuesday and all looks good up through Maine and NovaScotia. :twisted:

As for the weather it's above zero here which is wonderful to see for a change. :D
But it was gusting 96 kph this afternoon, which is a bit above the casual 70 I expected. Wouldn't want to be out in an open boat. :twisted: Just caught the weather on NTV, it's snowing out west and central. And will snow a few cm here overnight, but there's a big warmup expected later the week... and wet and windy though. High of 10 C on Saturday, says Environment Canada.
Are you travelling next week then?
I like to look at this Norwegian site for a longer extended forecast: hate to say it but they're expecting snow all across the island on Wednesday next week - maybe 8 cm here but more and colder on the west coast so it will be nasty in PortauxBasques! And on the water no doubt.

But March has been nasty, except for coming in like a lamb. This week is warmer but all wind and rain. Dread the Wreckhouse area coming from the ferry. It's like Igor twice a week there all the time. :?: I'm not happy to see more colder weather in April. :no:
One good thing, there's very little snow down this winter, so whatever comes, it shouldn't linger, not here anyway. Bonavista may be a different story. I noticed this winter, that the worst of the storm tracks were always over Clarenville and missed us. Chance there are a few snowbanks loitering around there as yet.

Oakley, here are a couple of links I find very handy if I have to travel anywhere on the island.
This one has a ton of cameras all over the place. You can see what a big difference today, it's seriously winter in Corner Brook and the Northern Peninsula. And yep, snowbanks lurking off the road in Clarenville, we still have some in the woods as well.

The other one is the government site, just a few highway cams but in some places anyway they give you the road temperature as well as the air, so you can judge if there's a risk of black ice. (I hate that stuff the worst because you can't see it...)

I do get a bit weepy when i see that. It is the most beautiful place i've ever been and fortunate to have a home there....my future retirement home. And not such a tomato challenge as one would think. Just a bit of help needed by a greenhouse front spring and back fall. ish, :twisted:
