Aurantiacum we both grow.Yes I'm up for a trading when the season is over.
HI Lotte, I hope you haven't forgotten about me and what you planned to do when you were able to get some new seeds this past summer, for ones that you had just old seeds for,as you put it.:) Carolyn |
KarenO,
I saw Black Gruska on your list, I've never heard of it before and Google (isn't my friend!) doesn't bring anything up! Do you know much about it? Thanks, Al |
it was a present from a friend in a Russian packet https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tomato-Black-Grushka-Russian-High-Quality-seeds-/291995872678
looks like I spelled it wrong in my OP, Black grusHka is correct. I am very interested in it, it is a black piriform tomato, new for me so will be interesting to see how it does. supposed to be fairly early, around 3 oz chocolate pears. I'm sure I will have seeds if it grows well. KarenO |
Isn't that Black Pear, the well-known Russian heirloom?

Please see the above and look at the bottom for the AKA's, for it. Yes, Black Pear. Carolyn |
Destined to be the first of the year, Andrina a little yellow micro
I may have to add Andrina to my collection. I've been looking for more diverse micros. |

Gold pearl. A small dwarf but not technically a micro dwarf yellow cherry. Delicate habit and setting lots of small fruit on miniature trusses.

I’m sure I’ll have seeds later on in The season Darren , message me in a couple of months and I’ll send you some if you like KarenO |
I've grown Black Pear, and it is really wonderful in taste. (seeds ordered from Ukraine, with both names, Slavic and English)

I like the shape of piriform tomatoes. I planted it to do a bit of crossing with potentially. Fairly early black pear will make a good parent potentially for a new project I have in mind. KarenO |
I think it’s possible that not every Russian black piriform tomato is the same, this one does not mention potato leaf on the package in either the Detailed Russian or English translation and the seedlings I have are regular leaf.
I think I’ll grow them out and see before the decisive pronouncements as to what these are are made for me? I’ll update as I go. KarenO |

Heritage Seed Market has it under "basket tomatoes" but that would be some basket! :P You can even see the potato leaves in one of their photos (I'm thinking with leaves that large there's no way it's a basket variety but what do I know!?) so maybe it was just listed wrong... It’s not a micro in the it will be over 18” but it’s a small little plant. Delicate.
If you look at my photos those are in 4” Nursery pots to give you an idea of size It’s an interesting growth habit. It’s a dwarf but resembles more if a miniature indeterminate without the rugose dark foliage etc. I think they are a bit too upright to tumble from a basket but perhaps under the weight of fruit they will bend over KarenO |

That took a while. Culled and first potting up done :)
Graduate to the greenhouse next. KarenO |
I hope you'll give us a taste report too, KarenO. :) I have seeds of Gold Pearl (and some other micros, incl. Andrina) and definitely planning to do a fall/winter indoor tomato thing this winter, which has been on hold while we did some repairs on the windows. :wait:
