Mark that is from Gary Ibsen as were all my seeds from this year. I better get a hold of him to find out what the story is.

Thanks for a wonderful event everyone. You made a couple of rookies very comfortable. We can't wait for next year!!!
Wow! That's an interesting list.

I noticed one name to double-check because I'm growing it: Dagma's Perfection (not Dogma's or Dagmar's).

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Dagma%27s_Perfection
You weren't the only one to spot that error. PNW did too. Should be corrected now. Thanks.

Zana September 7, 2009 09:40 PM

Hopefully all the corrections in spellings are made now. Looking at the one that I couldn't read, it looks more like the "Polish (Earl)" than anything else from the handwriting so I'll go with that....perhaps with an asterick that it is not quite certain?

korney19 September 7, 2009 09:52 PM

I just added another 10 pics. Maybe best to quote this to bump it every page so access to the pics are handy on each page--quoting that post won't bump the thumbnails.

Here's the post to all the tomato pics:

http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost.php?p=143465&postcount=9

I will keep updating THAT post. Maybe someone can count how many varieties or dupes or whatever. I remember Rob's wife said there were 102 plates of tomatoes--that was before Z and Jim & Galina came. I'm not sure if that was before or after mine, because Jerry had me start writing names on plates as soon as I got there and we forgot my tomatoes in the back of the truck in a permanest tray. But I know mine did get plated, except for EoE.

Wasn't that other wrong name one Dog Ma, the lady that lives down the street from Cat Woman, the lady in black latex hoarding 37 cats in her basement?

Heart Cross Red should be KB Heart-Red (PL)
KB Heart Pink should be KB Heart-Pink (RL)
KBH - Mark Korney/ Jerry Powarski Red should be: KBH - Red, same format as KBH - Pink; there are 4 different KB Hearts/KBH... these 2 go with the other 2 above but all 4 are different.

Soldaki should be spelled Soldacki, with the c. Carolyn introduced this one I believe, and it's spelled Soldacki. If it was obtained from Andrey in Belarus, maybe he spells it without the c but it translates back to the originator, WITH the c. (you don't want to face the Wrath of Carolyn with misspelling variety names!)

I didn't see Olive Hill on the list... it was pictured...

Pomadoro, according to google, should be spelled Pomodoro.

I deleted & reloaded the Dagma pic with the correct spelling...

EDIT:::::::::::::::: I corrected the list quoted, now just copy & paste it! You're welcome Z! You can add Olive Hill or not add it. Thanks for bringing the Baklava & sorry we didn't have much time together to discuss...maters!

Thanks so much, Remy, for hosting such a fun and well organized event (and for letting us Jersey folks crash the party)! The prizes were really nice and thoughtful, and we'll be putting the Wegmans bag to use. Zana, thank you very much for the generous sharing of seeds from your collection. Let us know if you, or anyone else, would like seeds from the Cervena Chuska Bulgarian pepper or NoviHan Pink tomato. Unfortunately, we don't have a picture of the NoviHan (as Mark requested) and that one was the last of our harvest - we will have to do a better job of documenting things next year. Marcia, it was nice speaking with you about the fun of growing for restaurants, and we appreciated your sharing ideas from your experience with chefs. Mark, Galina liked your Nipple tomatoes and plans to plant seeds next year, hoping that they ripen as whole trusses at once for easy harvest. Again, thanks to all for letting us in on such a nice occasion!
Best Regards,
Jim and Galina

I didn't have a baggie with Olive Hill. But perhaps Remy has / had a whole one from which she saved seeds?

Your welcome! I'm glad you could make it. Gary cooked a Cervena Chuska in with the egg scramble he made yesterday and it was yummy. He also kept the seeds without me asking!

Zana/Mark,
I did save seeds from Olive Hill. It was not cut because it was in the Ugliest contest.
I can't spell Soldacki. Thanks for pointing that out:lol:.

KBH - Red - Mark Korney/ Jerry Powarski
KBH - Pink - Mark Korney/ Jerry Powarski
KB Heart Pink - Mark Korney/ Jerry Powarski
KB Heart Red - Mark Korney/ Jerry Powarski

*****

Mark, I know the above came from the crossed KB seeds I sent you but please fill me in as to what's the difference between those that are indicated as KBH Red, vs KB Heart Red, and same for the pink?

Don't think I'm not following this story b/c I am and you know darn well that I love hearts, and well, you get the picture.

I think I did tell you that I found my data for the 2004 season as well as the 2005 season, and you were asking me if I grew any hearts in I think it was 2004 or maybe 2005. Were the KB seeds I sent you produced in 2004 or 2005?

Wrath? Me? LOL, but yes, the variety name is Soldacki.

And I forgot to see if Dogma got corrected to Dagma's Perfection, ala Tomatofest, or maybe it was Purple Dogma Creek or even a new variety Dogma, named for the 10 FPOTG, that's First Principles of Tomato Growing? LOL

It's so great to see that so many of you really did get tomatoes this year, as I look at the 4 Medvaya Kaplya's ( small yellow akin to YP but much better tasting) and 5 Smarty F1's, a new grape tomato from Dr. Randy Gardner, as well as TWO cukes and nothing else at all. No blossoms on several plants as of last Sunday, so scratch those for this season, and the rest of the plants have a few greenies, but nada even blushing and here it is almost mid-September and the temp this AM was 42F. Septa Sigh.

You need to move, or adopt a surrogate garden further south. ;)

korney19 September 10, 2009 11:12 AM

Carolyn, I still need the list of what was grown in 2004, the KB was from that year on the pkt.

I grew only one plant in 2007 and got a RL red heart.

I grew 2 plants in 2008 & got 1 PL red & 1 RL pink.

This year I'm growing 2 PL red & 2 RL pink here, and I think 2 PL red & 1 RL pink at Jerry's in the 'burbs.

They are broken down into numbers, we started 81 varieties and the 2 segregates coincided with #12 & #13 in the trays, 12 is the red, 13 is the pink, and N & S here for placement, F & R at Jerry's for the reds. So there is 12N, 12S, 13N, 13S, 12F, 12R, 13J (only one #13 there I think so calling it J for Jerry's.)

All the 12's are red hearts--not as pronounced as a Ukrainian Heart, but generally a blunt Wes type heart, some pointy though. The 13 at Jerry's was more flatter on the bottom. The 13N here is similar. But the 13S here was a really big heart but still blunt.

Here's the 13 from Jerry's:

Here is 13S, grown here:

Here's a general representation of 12N/S/F/R:

12F, with a huge belly button:

I still have to sit down & start tasting them all, I pretty much got a late start this year with everything going on with my Mom & back & no yard help, etc, and didn't get plants in until almost the end of June.... a few even in July!

To this day, I still have NOT sat down and had a whole tomato to actually eat all by myself! Not even on a sandwich, not even 1 BLT!

P.S. There is also a 13N & PL Red pictured in the thumbnails on page 1...

carolyn137 September 12, 2009 09:24 AM

Mark, on each seed pack I write the date of seed processing under the name of the variety and then at the bottom right I put my SSE code name with the date when the pack is being sent out, as to year.

So seeds processed in 2004 will have that date under the variety name and then at the bottom it may say NY MA C 2005, the year I sent them out.

So not knowing which date you refer to I can share with you the following as to which hearts I grew in which years at different tomato gardens.

In 2003 I grew KB in the same garden with:

German Red Strawberry
Wes
Nicky Crain

In 2004 I grew KB in one of my three tomato gardens with:

Orange Strawberry

In 2002 I grew KB in one garden with:

Nicky Crain
German Red Strawberry.

The envelope said

"Kellogg's Breakfast"
"2004"

"NY MA C 07"

I think back when it happened I asked if you grew any hearts OR PLUMS that year and do you have a list and you replied "Yes Mark I do but I don't know where that data book is right now.

But for sure I was growing at least one red heart, Kelleher's Oxheart, but not any plum tomatoes that I can remember."

I thought in a different message you may have listed Matt D' Imperio, and a few others that you grew that year that may have been plums or bombs or similar... maybe you can review your 2004 list again for red or pinks that fit that description, not just hearts?
