Never eaten a really out of this world delicious red, although many have been tasty. Haven't grown the Detsikas or any other hughly praised red one yet, will have to do so 'some time'... But other colors always won over the red candidates.
(Red Pear the old heirloom, Costoluto Genovese and some others were all very good, just not really supernatural..) |
I forgot about Wes, that's my favorite red heart.

I forgot one of the very tastiest reds and that is Dester.

Bill[/QUOTE] I, too, love Dester, but I thought it was pink. My favorites so far are Wes, That Russian Tomato, and Sheryl’s Portuguese Red Heart. Druzba is nice, and the determinate Sibersky Skorospelyi. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Milka's Red Bulgarian is my favorite red.

Besides beautiful super tasty tomatoes it has some of the worst looking foliage; but I can live with that. My one and only Dester I planted on the 24th of March and it has just now totally quit producing. It has blooms on it but no new fruit so I will be pulling it since there probably insn't enough time left before frost to make and grow and ripen any new fruit. I think it is about time to get out there and start cutting off growth tips on the rest of my plants to speed up fruit growth. I may be jumping the gun because we have had years where winter didn't get here til Christmas but I would rather finish a bit early than have to see a bunch of green fruit frozen. Bill |
