These 3 were started at the beginning of Feb. in the greenhouse and gave tomatoes in May.:D Clockwise starting in the upper left: Fruehe Liebe, Maskotka, Sirbirskiy Skorospelyi.

Gaccetta Paste
 

A pretty plum that was a bit late and has some yellow shoulders and its share of BER- 7-8 oz. so far. Nice taste but Giannini is a better performer and has a sweet taste I love.

German Giant
 

This produced a few fruits of about a pound in weight but it wasn't a happy plant for some reason. DH liked the flavor but he enjoys a more acidic note than I can appreciate.

As you may have noticed, this year was a pink beefsteak showdown. GJ was a regrow from last year because of its nice appearance but it has a funky note to it that I don't remember noticing last year.:?!?:

Jury's still out on this one- one good taste test and one too acidic. Fruits a bit smaller than GJ so far at 9-13 oz.

Five to 13 oz. of YUM! Too juicy for a paste tomato but I love it fresh.

Grandma Viney's Yellow and Pink
 

A nice tasting bicolor- not a big producer for me, some catfacing and open locules. I have to say it's continuing to put out fruit and ripen them even as we are nearing the end of August.

Kath, it is a true GJ. I don't know how I'll ever find the thread that discusses this but in some places in the south the RL was grown and in other places the PL version was grown and both were considered GJ with just a different leaf form, but all else the same.

I appreciate the correction, Carolyn- I copied that from somewhere but I don't remember the source. This one and GJ are growing right next to one another and now I'll make a point of trying to taste them together to compare more closely.

This PL pink beefsteak was easy to keep staked but had lots of BER, an early case of EB, catfacing, radial cracks, etc. but I managed to get a nice fruit to photograph. Maybe it was missing KY.

Hawaiian Pineapple
 

This is my favorite bicolor so far. Last year I was more enamored with its taste, though, so maybe it's not a good bicolor year. The fruits are anywhere from 10 oz. to over 2 lbs. and some have catfacing but most are really pretty and completely usable fruits. Not sure I need a bicolor, though...

This is a regrow from last year when I got seeds from Carolyn's offer and we're still liking it- a lot. It produces well, is easy to peel, weighs from 5 oz. to a double over 2 lbs., and the only negative I noticed this year is that EB is making quicker progress on this one than on some of my other favorites in this category. Part of the reason for that is that it has long ago exceeded the height of the cattle panel (~ 6 1/2') and flopped over the other side, so its leaves are all scrunched between the vines and the cattle panel allowing for virtually no air flow.

Heshpole
 

A winner from Carolyn's 2012 seed offer, Heshpole was one of the latest to ripen but it holds a lot of promise for making a return to my garden. DH and I both liked the taste of the first fruit (no small feat) and we're waiting for more to ripen on the counter. So far they've weighed from 9 to 15 oz. and there are LOTS of them on a GIGANTIC plant. It started out kind of tall and lean and was sort of rattling around in its cage but it has now outgrown its cage and is shading neighbors on all sides. A seedsaver's nightmare!
