Yup - helping hands are wonderful! ;) Hope you mend quickly, Woz!
We are looking forward to pictures of those tomatoes to help us get through the NH winter! |
Glad to hear the plants are getting in, and sorry to hear about your injury! Get well soon!
The weather here has been horrible even for november... so nice to hear someone complain "it was so hot" ....:yes: |
Mcsee' s offer was wonderful, especially considering it is over an hours drive between our respective homes. Basically I miss judged a step and ripped a triangleular flap of skin about 4 inches long on two sides. Between a bit of an infection and skin die off, a skin graft was required. Graft has taken and is healing well.
First tomato fruit of the season is on Tasmanian Chocolate. Photos to follow as I am able to move about more easily. |
McSee, you are wonderful to pitch in like that.
Thank you Ginger. Always happy to help out where we can. |

A hard way to do it though. Glad to hear you are well and that your tomatoes are too. I am in envy of your Tasmanian Chocolate. That is a tasty tomato. |

Mcsee and I have communicated in the past as he set-up the Aussie forum Ozgrow, we had crossed paths once before when he passed on some seed that I will forward with some zucchini seed to a person in Europe. But yes, it HS certainly done that friendship no harm. I am in envy of your Tasmanian Chocolate. That is a tasty tomato.
Sounds good looking forward to tasting it. Will post photos when I am allowed back in the garden. Thanks Woz |
Sorry to hear you were injured! Take good care and get well soon.
Wonderful to have friends when you need them! Looking forward to your photos Karen |
Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. Have just left review clinic and all good with graft on the wound. Will be back in 5 days for inspection of skin donor site.
Once I can get rid of moonboot shall start taking photos Woz |
moonbot?

The moonboot, do not know why they call it that, but they do. Because I lifted a flap of skin right down to the muscles underneath, I am not allowed to move my calf muscle at the moment to allow the skin graft to heal properly. So the moonboot it to restrict movement of ankle and take my weight if I need to move about, the less I move the better. Top photo is moonboot on leg, bottom is side on.

Somehow I read it as "moon bot" and was picturing the Mars rover.

Lol, Not quite, but having a little all terrain buggy under my foot may allow me to do a bit outside, although it is not the weather for outdoor work here at the moment. |

Do not over do! They are just stupid tomatoes. Tell those plants they are on their own until you are mended!!! |

Picked our first tomato yesterday, a 102 gram Tasmanian Chocolate

Whwoz, I think it's so cool that you're just getting your first ripe tomatoes before xmas. :) It's just hard to flip it in my mind that xmas is your summer solstice - do you have much longer days where you're living?
Also kudos because we don't get first ripes before the summer solstice here! My mom has bought me a leg of Aussie lamb for my birthday, coming up in a few days! :D I had one last summer and found it really tasty. One of my favorite things, no doubt! |
