Lucky you Steve for the rain , hot and dry here and dragging hoses still from when to when now ......... yuk! and we still get the noisy stuff past midnight. oh well it is over and we / they have celebrated the birthday of our country and we should not ever forget it!!
I was greatful to get the rain. The rain stopped about 6pm and the fireworks began with a vengeance. Woke me up several times before midnight, but I was able to fall back to sleep quickly. I set my alarm for 3:30A for work and don't feel too bad this morning. Oops, gotta clock in.

The epic hail storm/ localized tornado that hit parts of Omaha/Bellevue NE didn't escape me tomato wise after all. I examined several tomatoes that have grown a little and now show dents about the size of a pea, and some trusses were damaged but shrugged it off. So far no insects tried to invade. They are still hard greenies. Instinct tells me to pick them off now but it will be a while before I know for sure if they are damaged internally.

Lisa, June is major hail time where I am in NYS, and yes, I've had hail make dents in both greenies and ripe ones, but with the greenies the dents have caused any problems at all, they ripen up just fine, but aren't marketable. And I'm talking here about my own tomatoes.

However, when it happened on the farm where I was raised it was a huge problem since our money came from my father's selling the fruits commercially at a regional market where buyers from Grocery chains and restaurants came to buy their produce, and no one wanted to buy blemished fruits at all. There were years when were actually wiped out due to hail storms.

We have Texas like weather .
Right now. It is 89 degrees but humidity is ok @ 59% w/partly cloudy skies.
We would welcome any rain but nothing is cooking for today. Tomorrow there is some chance for T storms.
We shall see.

Sitting on the back patio and have been listening to the nail guns (since 6:30a) while they put a new roof on the apartment complex across the fence. Currently 78f with 81% humidity. Light 5mph breeze and it feels nice here in the shade. I hope they stop before my nap. Our pup Sawyer has been freaked out by all of the 4th explosive, which continued last night. But he is laying in the sunshine and getting use to the nailguns.
