The babies are 2 weeks old today. A team is coming over to transplant them. I am going to feed them pizza.:)
The first tray has some younger ones at the right that won't be done yet. |
Looking good! What size pots do they go into next?

Linda
3.5", Promix BX, a good pinch Tomato Maker, Gnatrol to keep fungus gnat larvae away. Probably close to 500 to do today. |
This is great to see. You are on your way! Which are the ones that you are looking forward to most?

Cool! I looked up Tomato Maker (blood meal, fish meal, cotton seed). Good stuff! and Planet Natural has it on sale right now :)

Nice to see your seedlings coming along. Never thought of having a tomato seedling transplant party...plus pizza. Sounds like a winner. I have 10 more to transplant into their 20 gallon container. :)

It's been a rough day here at home,so I apologize for asking
(The babies are 2 weeks old today. A team is coming over to transplant them. I am going to feed them pizza.) If I can assume that the team would get the pizza since I understand the babies would be too young to deal with it.;) Carolyn, who should call Pizza World here and order for home delivery, now that you have me thinking pizza. |
Looking good
|
ah the little darlings...
Love love love transplanting tomato seedlings, wish I could have some pizza too. excited to watch the progress! Karen |

Also heath bar crunch cookies, and cut up fruit from Publix. We had such a good time, all were master gardeners, so lots to talk about.
Looking good
Thank you.
you know, I have been a transplant coordinator in my career. :) different kind of transplant KarenO
The kind that needs immunosupressants after, no doubt. That would be exciting. Wow, you really are brilliant if you did that. |
It was the most challenging role I have had certainly.

Tomato and pepper babies had a day to rest, now out in full shade to start hardening off. About 8 days until full sun.
|
Nice fat looking babies! Do you have to move them every day to harden them? Your flats look very efficient to handle the volume.
|

Yes, they will be moved a bit further everyday until they get full sun. By then they will be large enough to handle our afternoon thunderstorms too. The flats were bought used online for $4 each, with shipping it came to $8 each. So worth it. DH drilled holes into them for drainage. They are so heavy duty they will be there long after I am gone, lol. One is a cardboard vegetable box covered in a clear plastic hefty bag because we ran out of red boxes. I got a little overzealous in seed sowing, haha. |
Nice. Is it hot out? KarenO
|
Yep, very hot. Feels like was 87 at 7 am.
|
Oh, wow. Just realized you don't have to shuffle under lights in
a basement with 4 ft of snow outside, :x:D We hit 95 yesterday and 92 today. Central Park must have broke a record at I think 98+ Looks great. |

This is two weeks after transplant. They have grown amazingly well. We only lost one tomato plant and two pepper plants out of approximately 375 plants. I had a wonderful crew this year helping me. Everybody was really good. I'm about halfway through with replenishing all my Earthboxes too, I think it's going to be timed just about right.
|
looking fantastic so far :)

Nice outdoor nursery of baby tomato plants. It all looks great as I watch leaves fall from the trees!
|
