magnolia tree

any reason to keep these flower petals out of the compost pile? the tree sheds them like crazy

Nope. They are food for worms. I would just leave 'em.

if i leave them they'll become food for the worms in the lawn. if i compost them they'll eventually make it into the garden about 75 yards away

Nope they degrade very quickly. I dumped about 30 pounds of them in mile pile last year and a week later they had shrunk down to almost nothing.

AHA rake them from the lawn and into the compost pile. SURE. By all means!
