Harvest Festival at the Sunol AgPark (SF Bay Area)
 

[B]Baia Nicchia Farm Event October 6th, 2013[/B]

We will be giving tours of our farm's breeding nurseries, which feature new varieties from [URL="http://baianicchia.blogspot.com"]Baia Nicchia farm[/URL] and [URL="http://www.growartisan.com"]Artisan Seeds[/URL].

We will also be sampling our tomatoes and squash, selling seed packets and selling tomatoes, peppers and squash.

We are doing this as a part of a larger event at the site where we farm (see below for info about the overall event).

The event will take place at the Sunol Ag Park (where we farm). This is a one day event to celebrate the harvest season with Sunol Ag Park farmers and the community. Come explore our pumpkin patch! Kids activities, live music, food with lots of organic pumpkins available for sale.

It was great to see the farm and hear about all the interesting things Fred is doing there!

I would have loved to go to that one! Darned air fare expenses :)

Aw Fred, why even mention it,;), since most of the CA folks I know say they have no trouble with foliage diseases since it's so dry,and some say they do dry farm, so no irrigation.

Do you have to irrigate what you grow?

Dry farming is limited to coastal farms with lots of fog.

We irrigate. Our main problem is that we have not been rotating long enough between tomato plantings (imagine that).

Ditto. I forgot all about the blight. What I remember are the gorgeous vegetables, the interesting herbs, and the wealth of ideas. I came home with a container of tomatoes and peppers, but I didn't buy one of the beautiful squashes because I don't have a place to put it.

The first photo is an assortment of tomatoes, mostly cherry and julienne varieties. The second photo is an assortment of Caribbean seasoning peppers. Had to photograph them before eating any!

Very nice photos! You can thank "Boutique Tomatoes" for the seasoning peppers. He sent me the seeds.
