Hello all,

OK, I think I have the latest adds and deletes completed for the voting sheets. The deletes are easy, we’ll use the circular file at the park for those. I think I have all the new sheets for the adds; just love to do those!

I went by Wild Boar Farms mid-day today and picked up Brad’s generous contributions. He has to make the big $$ on Saturday so he unfortunately can't attend. Would've been nice, he knows his maters. We did a little leisurely picking but the pros were really packing the boxes. I think Brad said he had about a thousand pounds ready for this weekend.

Picking in Earnest...somewhere between Vacavillle and Tomatoville.

Here’s what Brad is sending:

Beauty King
Large Barred Boar
Berkeley Tie Dye
Berkeley Tie Dye Heart
Pink Boar
Brad’s Black Heart
Red Furry Boar – Red Fuzzy Boar – Furry Red Boar…anyway something along that line. Brad can correct me…
Pink Tie Dye

See you there!

Wow. Brad rocks. :D Those pics make me more frustrated. I only was able to find a handful (each) Sugar Lumps, Black Cherry and Snow White.

I hope my strawberry trifle grants me a pardon. I also have quite a few greek, lemon and miniture white cukes to share. The pepino dulce (v. Vista) in a 2.5 gallon pot is still up for grabs.

Next year, I am definitely going to give self watering contaiiners a try. I can't seem to beat the nematodes and the grow bags just arent working for me...I water the plants in the grow bags everday and they still shrivel up.

WOW, Brad has the greatest toms! I'm really enjoying the Berkeley Tie Dye I got from him. Brad, where do you sell your tomatos?

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Davis tomorrow. Should be another sunny day with a high of 92 degrees. 8)

All,

I understand the event is from 10-3, right? I might be up there by 11 (coming from Oakland, might take the train).

Just in case I take the train up there, would it be possible for someone to give me a lift from the train station to the park? Please p.m. me if you think you might be able to do that, and I'll give you my cell phone number.

Thanks.

Hey Angelique,

Your strawberry & chocolate trifle *rocked*! I loved the combination of flavors. Forgot to mention it earlier -- I think I got distracted by all the tomato porn.

... and Bruce,

That sorbet was amazing. I want more! I doubt I'd have been able to guess the "mystery ingredient" had I not known beforehand. Didn't get a chance to taste the sungold-lemon, as you indicated the orange was better. Did you end up making the pepper ones?

For those reading this, the recipe is in the dessert recipe section posted by gardenmama.

For the Sungold - lemon sorbet I used the Sungold-Citrus recipe but substituted Lemon juice for the Orange juice.

The Sungold - Lemon is great as a topping for a fruit salad. Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Grapes and whatever else you want to throw in. It gives a great taste and a little freeze to the fruit, perfect on a hot evening.

The Jalapeño plants are loading up again so I'm ready to give it a try. We made green and red Jalapeño jelly last year that was very good so I think the Jalapeño Pineapple Sorbet will be great also.
