Green Mountain Multiplier Onion

Hello everybody, a quick question about multiplier onions.

I managed to get my hands on some of Kelly Winterton's Green Mountain Onion seeds this year. I got them late, and sowed them around May 20th. Since they were already two years old, I figured that it would be safer to start them this season rather than wait until next spring.

Right now the seedlings are about two and a half inches high, and I'm planning on saving the bulbs that grow over the summer to plant next year. I guess what my question is, is will these immature bulbs grow to maturity at next planting and produce more 'bulblets'? Or should I forget about it and try to buy seeds earlier for next year?

I'd try to grow them as large as you can and then replant, like onion sets. They will split into nests in the second year.

Thank you- I was worried that I might stunt them or something, I'll stick with it then
