Found some left over funds.This will save a lot of fingers,took almost twenty years since inception.

I got a dewalt that I mounted to a fold up dewalt cart for 1/2 that cost. what's so special about this saw?

It is made with a electronic brake that was tested first time with a hot dog,it made a 1/128th inch nick then stopped at 3000 rpm.This morning on PBR,a kid told a narrative of his loss of basically his whole life when in high school shop class he lost his 4 fingers,his wishes for being in a occupation he loved.Also EVERYDAY ,UP TP TWENTY DIGITS ARE LOST.Now that's special.Wanted to link the story,don't think it's up yet.

I don't know how shop teachers do it without going mental. When my son was in about grade 7 he told me that he and his friends would sort of pinch hold the saw of a band saw between their fingers as it went around. He tried to show me how they did it on my jig saw but I forbade it!

Looks like a great invention.

It has been around for a coons age but as stated the price has went down.
Drawbacks big time but it saves fingers and many times more.
I wouldn't own one myself.:)

There is a new saw that Bosch has come out with. The Reaxx also stops the saw but doesn't damage the saw like Sawstop does.

Reaxx is actually what my husband was looking into because the damage caused when it stops is far cheaper to repair than with the SawStop. Reaxx uses a cartridge that is easily replaced, unlike the Sawstop, which is damaging to the saw itself. Now the kicker is that Sawstop took Bosch to court over patent infringement and won.

Here is a link to the Reaxx. I guess those who have stock are trying to get rid of them. If Bosch is not allowed to sell the product any longer, as well as the cartridges, then it is lost money to even buy one. I'm glad we waited.

Don't even think about running any wood that is any kind of damp in one the cost and time to replace everything is unreal from what I heard.
The guy I knew that ran one (a big one) the company got rid of it.
A good table saw blade will run 100 bucks or more alone.

Exactly! One of the drawbacks to these saws.

I have been running saws for many years and have never cut myself with one.
I respect them.
The other thing is I never mix alcohol or drugs with this sort of thing, NEVER.

knew a guy who got his hand stuck in an industrial wood chip shredder, which is a two man operation. he was running it solo and when his hand got stuck he could not reach the stop lever (he had to mentally/manually pull his arm out against the shred). it ate him up pretty good, but they sewed his hand to his inner thigh and ported off the femoral to regrow skin tissue. I do believe the graft took (still looked like he was ate up by a shredder), but he regained partial use of his limb.

I do keep the plastic hood on my blade (but hate it), and also hate the anti kick back tongs.

I was raised on a push stick and still implement today. Always have had a healthy respect for the table saw.

However, the mitre/chop saw has almost ripped me a new one on several occasions.

The hood came down and hit the saw blade and shattered.
Covered my face in shrapnel had safety glasses on.
Hood now residing at city land fill.
Anti kick back gone.
What you need is a spreader not all of this other lawyer OSHA crap.

Glad you had the goggles on.

The saw has the same principle as your glass screen,simple positive/negative.The other uses same activation but drops the carriage but saw still runs.Thats the lawsuit part from what I gather from info that is available that I have read.Never had to test mine yet,but nice to know when someone else uses my equipment,it is up to snuff,legal,safe,all the safety parts installed.
