Charline, Shah has been extinct for many many years. Will Weaver brought it back from the dead, so to speak, but it wasn't Shah that he sent here and there.

First, a thread from here where Craig ( nctomatoman) describes it from an old catalog he had when it was first introduced:

http://tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=7566

We later discovered that what Will was distributing based on plant habit, fruit color and size was actually White Potato Leaf.

There's a lot more to say but it gets complicated including White Brandywine, no such thing, being equated with White Mikado, no such thing, being equated with Shah and on and on.

But you should feel comfortable knowing that you aren't growing the original Shah, which disappeared long ago.

And also good to remember that varieties that are said to be white fruited seldom are based on the degree of foliage cover, where grown in terms of UV intensity, and yes, also the genes a variety has. So so called whites can vary in color from ivory to pale yellow to a deeper yellow.

I've grown a lot of so called whites in the past and the one variety that has been consistently closest to white in my zone 5 is the variety White Queen which was introduced in the Earl May seed catlaog in I think 1941, when I was only 2 years old, but I remember it well.;)

Hope that helps, and I do love your pictures.:)

Charline, awesome fruits and pictures. The heat wave we had for the last month has been playing havoc with fruit set on my plants. Hopefully that will change.
