Glad to see those traps doing their job. Just beautiful, setting the pace for all Floridians. The EB ppl should sponsor you, just like a surfer.

Don't give up on that Zamorano, it likes to start setting fruit at 5 ft and over. It should produce orbs as big as Elgin Pink.

A black tomato feast it will be, super cool Marsha.

I wonder if EB even knows about Me!
I actually have a Zamorano ripening now. It's huge, and you are right, many more are forming now that it's taller.

Too numerous to mention, but Elgin Pink, Bear Creek, Margaret Curtain, Never AZ. Red, Noire De Crime', Iraqi Heart, Olive Hill Rev. Michael Keys, Jaune Flame'(spelling?), Sungold F1, Red Barn, are just some.

EB needs to know about you. I recently ordered 6 of them because of you.:D

Looking good.....

jmsieglaff December 12, 2016 01:28 PM

Marsha, you may have posted this elsewhere, if so I apologize, two questions. 1) What do you fill your boxes with? 2) With 2 plants per box, how often do you need to water your plants when they are full-sized?

I use Promix BX, I add a cup of Dolomite lime, and 3 cups of Tomato Tone. I follow the written EB instruction pamphlet exactly.
In the heat and height of the season I add water once per day. Right now it's every other.

Marsha... So jealous! Look at all those tomatoes. I had to buy some at the store today for my sandwiches. I wouldn't complain if you tossed even some green ones this way. Going to be a long 5-6 months before most of us get to eat a fresh tomato again.

Thanks for sharing your pics and making us drool. : )

TC_Manhattan December 12, 2016 03:59 PM

Marsha,

I think you said somewhere, sometime, that you re-use the ProMix BX from season to season. Two questions with that:

1) What do you do with the leftover roots from the plants you remove?
Leave them, or pull them out? If you pull them out, how does that work to prevent
loss of the mix?

2) Do you add another cup of lime to the re-used ProMix for each season?
I figure that adding more fertilizer for each new season is a given.

Thanks so much. I had a great season with my beginner's collection of earth boxes!

I had a couple with tomatoes, a couple with peppers, one growing lacinato and rainbow kale, one with bush beans and one with pole beans.
What a great way to garden! The kale and beans truly loved it!:roll:
