A cross last year provided some strange results. I crossed a Hungarian black with a brown habanero and 3 of 12 were variegated. quite pretty plant with purple peppers, can wait to see how they taste. The other happiness from this year is that my cross I have been working on for years is nearly stabile. I found the color of purple I am looking for in the immature fruit comes from the peepers that turn orange at maturity instead of red.

Love the blushing color of orange on the purple. Hope it tastes good. Have you tried it yet? Is it super hot?

I brought it to work so I could get everyone's opinion and they loved it! It starts out a little sweet then turns citrusy and hot. The heat is only around a serrano I would say. It has thicker walls and will be great in salsa. One more generation to be sure it stabile then I have to find a name. I am thinking Citrus Sting. When you say it, it sounds like interesting lol

My peppers on my variegated plant started to ripen. They go from purple to maroon to green striped to most likely red at the end. They are the coolest looking peppers I have ever seen.

Cool looking peppers. I love the Citrus Sting! Nice thick walls for salsa and to spice up bland veggies.

Citrus Sting is a good name for sure. It sure is going to brighten up some food dishes. : )

Have you thought about farming a few seeds out to some Southern hot states? The reason I ask is because down where I am, trying to grow those plants with variegated leaves usually have lots of burnt leaves. Only way I can grow those is with more shade.

I love the look of variegated plants and with the stripping it is sure to be a showstopper in the garden. : )
