Proven Container System Gets Computer Control!

I haven't been on here in ages, too busy with a neck surgery & refining my container-tomato system. It yielded 250+ lbs last season; since then I've set up a Gardena computer-controlled watering system. Maybe y'all are growing-sophisticated beyond me, but I thought I'd share anyway. Here's my initial 2011 FB post:

Don't know what that font crap is before the address, just cut/paste the URL.

this worked for me:

Try cut/paste with the whole thing, that's how I got to it from here (WEIRD!).

FB says, "to share with anyone use this public link", but they're NEVER wrong about anything, are they?<g> It apparently doesn't work, I'll try to figure it out & re-post, or just "friend" me on FB & read/see pics there ("Steve Daugherty, Anderson"). I think that growers on here would be very interested in my project. Sorry for the bum links!

Contrary to popular belief not everybody is on Facebook me being one of them.
Not because I am old fashioned but because I happen to be a little more private.

Is there any way you can post what you are talking about here without having us go to facebook?

Well, I have a facebook account and none of the links work for me. Why not just post directly here?

guitarer May 23, 2011 01:26 PM

Because it'd be much easier to direct folks to the link, as I'm updating the project over the the growing season - that would be worlds simpler than posting a separate update here when needed. FB provided the "public access" link, that apparently doesn't work, not my fault or the fault of anyone here. I was merely trying to share info that I felt would be considered very interesting/useful to TomatoVille members - not expecting to get jumped on because I wanted to post a simple external link. If I can find a way to make the FB URL work, I'll post, if not (as Rosanne Rosannadanna would say), "NEVER MIND!!"<g>!

Try this one, this link should work or at least it did for me...

5-26-11 update

Update for whoever may be following my FB link:

Oh, thanks-much, beatpoet, for posting the link that works!

Gravity + water = go with the flow!

6/3/11 update: Elevated drip heads need a "higher power"! I was getting OK performance from my automated drip system, but the flow rate was inconsistent on some drippers, which are at the tops of my elevated pots. Raising the drip water source above ALL of the drip heads did the trick. "I think that if [gravity] is inevitable, relax & enjoy it!" - Bob Knight...except for one word<g>!

Do you have some sort of backup power supply to keep things working if the power goes out?
