[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]I chose 6 varieties this year just for fruit size and container friendly[/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3].....To see how it goes .[/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]Even at risk of not being as productive as the medium size fruit varieties [/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]in Containers ...I just had to try it ..[/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]but EM Champion and Velmozha [/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]are ahead and set fruit early .....by a country mile ![/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]Does anyone else have insights into this Large fruited container endeavor ? [/SIZE][/FONT]

If you had planted medium sized fruit, which varieties would you have chosen?

I planted 5 dwarfs and the fruits are small to medium, and they are somewhat productive. Each plant will have one or two medium sized fruits with the rest of the fruits being small, but good.

No insights but sign me up for your updates! :) Just looked at Velmozha on Tomatobase... nice looking fruit!
Hearts have one big advantage for cool short seasons - no catfacing. :yes:

Ananas Noire is the smallest indet, with some of the largest tomatoes in my garden. I have 2 of them, both the same size. It is early too.

Funny you should ask ....this year I have about 42+ varieties
(cutting back this year ..lol)

It's a very cold spring here, and I have only one heart variety coming along... Already cramped for space, but I'll try to include more hearts next year.
The ones I have grown have been great, but some (Kosovo, Fishlake oxheart) were susceptible to BER.
Russian ones (Zolotoy Korol, Zolotoy Serdtse) not so.

I just try a bunch of likely candidate Tomato varieties :roll:.......

and the ones that are outstanding in my cool climate culture

......make themselves known by observation and trial .:cute:

No.5 Zinulya same as above no fruit set ... I would also note I think Zinulya

is a bit more sensitive to being set out in marginal situations than the above
4 varieties with wind , sun , cold etc. but it looks good ..just later .

My usual ..put out and "protect if necessary" dance ......Is May 2nd ...around here....

Big snow even ..in winter...... I delayed put out till about

"protect if necessary " concerns for container based gardens ...

But right now Today it is ....."June-tober ".......back to
more normal seasonal temps a High of only 13-15 C....:twisted::cute:

A protected situation from North/west wind can help ...like up against a south facing fence ....( Just as long as normal cool am overcast weather systems dominate).

can help with a micro climate etc.

So how long is your growing season?

I have some Krasnodor Titan seeds. I hope they produce for you. I would like to know more about them. I asked about them and this nice moderator lady up in NY named Carolyn told me they are basically rocks. :lol:
