Ananas Noir x Sungold F3

This continues to be a great tasting, and very early line for me. So many good genes in the mix.

L 7-1 This is the ONE. One of the earliest big tomatoes I grew this last summer. Really good, classic "black" tomato taste.
Pretty sweet too. Goes forward for sure.

The others -

FY 4-3. A nice, sweet, pink.

Awesome looking maters Paddy!

Paddy, if they taste as good as they look you have accomplished something great. Keep up the good work

Tasty AND early! my kind of tomato. I will buy them as soon as you have seeds ready.

PaddyMc March 14, 2016 11:58 PM

I'd be happy to send you some seeds for free if you'd be willing to send me some back from your grow-outs.

I now have a policy to automatically click on any thread that PaddyMc starts with two tomato names and an 'x' in the title. I love the eye candy!

Thanks Paddy. Beautiful

Happy to send you some seeds if you'd like to grow some eye candy of your own. :D

I see crowns arising today... yay
Is there anything specific you are looking for? traits that you are wanting to develop? color, size, taste specific? how do you want the seeds saved that you get back?

BigVanVader April 6, 2016 06:54 PM

The L 7-1 looks intriguing. Do you have a pic of it before slicing?

PNW_D April 6, 2016 08:48 PM

Wow

I would have thought crossing with Sungold would give smaller fruit - are these F3's all from one large fruited F2 plant?

mashermike April 7, 2016 08:35 AM

Sorry for dumb question. What is the meaning of letter/number labels? L 7-9 and 10 look interesting ... and delicious.

In this line I'm looking for (in order of importance) - taste, earliness, smaller blossom scars, production and dark brickyard-red/black colors. Seeds can be fermented or Oxy-cleaned, whatever your normal method is. Just save at least one fruit worth from every plant (two if something you think is really good shows up). :D
I look forward to your results.

The very top pic (above the sliced one) is the un-sliced L 7-1.

Yeah, for the most part you get cherries, but this cross threw a couple of really big F2's and these are from one of those. I think Sungold must have a full-size parent somewhere back down the line, because I've had an easier than expected time recovering full-size offspring from it.

For reference, here's the F2 parent -
