inoculating your mulch with wine cap mushroom spawn in late winte

Saw this in a news feed. Seems like a great soil conditioner.

Not sure if it would work in my zone with our fluctuating rain/drought.

Pros and cons, comments welcome.

I grow in what is mostly composted hay that I dig out of the cow field. Sometimes all the hay is not fully decomposed. It grows a web of white mold throughout, which is fungi mycelium, and big mushrooms sprout out the sides of my black plastic mulch after heavy rains. The plants seem to like it, or at least do not mind at all.

There are many videos on you tube about this. I think I want to try it under the grapes where it is shady in the summer.

I innoculated a patch two years ago and despite the mycelium doing well, it's too dry here for the mushrooms to form. I would use hardwood chips and bark vs. straw.
