yellow wax bean question
 

so far these beans have really produced bucket loads but appear to be slowing down. Do they continue to produce or do they have a 'season' and I need to plant another crop? Piegirl

That depends...are they bush beans or pole beans? If bush beans, you'll need to plant again. If pole beans, leave them in and keep picking, they'll produce more.

Thanks Michele - they are bush beans but I think that is a relative term - they are about 3 feet high and I had to support them! My bush zukes grew about 4 1/2 high - I finally whacked them just so I could walk thru the garden. Set back production but that's ok. Now to find the space to plant a fall crop. Could tear out my Bushy cukes (Bushy is the variety also) - they are two hills and now cover 10' x 10' and are loaded. Piegirl

Yeah, I think it is a relative term. My field peas are supposed to be a bush variety but they're about three feet tall. Luckily I supplied support when I planted, otherwise they'd be falling all over the place.

My zucchini is about done for the summer, thanks to the squash vine borer. It takes up the whole aisle at that end of the garden. My cucumbers are on a trellis but pretty much smothering my pole beans next door. The cukes have some powdery mildew so I think they'll be coming out in a week or two, when they slow down a little more. My beans are just beginning to bloom so they'll probably appreciate the removal of the cucumbers about now.
