I'm assuming that June Bug is a tomato variety and since I'd never heard of it I went to Tania's data base site and no June Bug there.

So I googled it and this is what I got

https://www.google.com/search?ei=3HC-W_u4Fo6e5gLZ1K-QAQ&q=june+bug+tomato+seeds&oq=june+bug+tomato+seeds&gs_l=psy-ab.3..33i299.41192.51284..53829...0.0..0.99.691.8......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j33i22i29i30.kSc5pPrJS-8

Only your post was there.

At least I tried to help.

it was a cross between jaune flamme x black cherry and made a dark orange large cherry that i think is tasty its a little thick skinned but productive.that's one i am holding as my profile picture.it is a orange but has much better flavor than a typical orange.the seed gel taste a lot like jaune flamme and the meat is a nice black cherry aftertaste its hard to describe.

The way you're describing it sounds lovely. Is it stabilized?

charley January 16, 2019 12:08 PM

i grew it out 7 times and and am getting the same thing every time.i sent seeds to seed savers but have not heard back from them.it was easy to grow out 7 generations because i can grow out twice a year in texas

Charley, How well does your tomato variety June Bug grow, set fruit and survive the Texas summer heat? When you plant it in the fall, how long before the plant is removed from the garden? Betcha it tastes better than a real June Bug!

Harry Cabluck January 16, 2019 03:44 PM

How would you compare it with variety Porter tomato for taste and growing?

First I had to look around to see if the other Carolyn was on this thread and not seeing her if you have enough seeds left and I can get someone local to raise a few plants,it sounds great.

I like the background on where it came from and you know that.

Last year's few plants here were Bonnie plants I had someone pick up from a local Agway store, lovely looking plants at $4 each and I got nada from most of them,it was due to a couple of reasons.

The person who planted them for me got them in very late. She also did not spray them nor fertilize them as I asked her to do.

I had ordered 2 each of each variety and I gave one each to one of my local mail delivery persons, and it was David who supplied me with fresh cut tomatoes that one of the 2 ladies then packed in my small Coleman box that helped.

harry i have never grown porter but june bug is a little smaller than a golf ball and takes the heat of texas very well.it set 6 to 8 on truss and not as many as black cherry but more than jaune flamme.in the fall garden it produces right up to a freeze but the flavor is not as good as the summer
