First big tomato this season

I was late getting my tomatoes in, and I'm just now getting in my big tomatoes! I just picked my first one, the first Indian Stripe I've ever grown.
I thought these would be smaller and more productive than Cherokee Purple, and they do seem more productive already, but this one is bigger than anything on my Cherokee Purple plants! |
Brandywine Red

And the second big one was this Brandywine Red, also around 1 lb. I'm also trying this variety for the first time this year. Used it in yummy wraps for lunch for three, and still have half left over.
I know these are not huge, but my community plot usually gets absolutely ravaged by groundhogs, so getting anything off the big tomato plants is worth celebrating! They leave the cherry tomatoes alone, but destroy the big tomatoes and the sauce tomatoes. Here's hoping the groundhogs stay away all season! |
Nice! Very unusual for your first full size tomatoes to be so big. Enjoy!

Good job! Getting a big tomato is always a big deal!
