Free Shipping at Johnny's???
Is anyone aware of this at Johnny's (seeds only)? If so, are there specific times when it usually happens? Most of the other larger seed companies do it several times a year, but I've never run into it at Johnny's.

I think they had free shipping on Valentine's day. A email I read a day late. |

I do a Johnny's order every year and had so much saved in my cart that 50 was not
a problem. I did get the e-mail. I did have to scramble a bit not being ready but I upped some of my favorite micro greens from one pound to five. Order was here in three days. I have a HarrisSeed order placed November 23rd and still not here three months later. Still listed in their catalog all this time and no back-order notifications on their pages. |
I shuffled Harris Seeds down to a very low place on my list for the same reason.

Once I found free shipping from one of those online sites like Retail Me Not, used the promo code and it worked so I got just 2 packets of seeds with no shipping charges.
It pays to check every once in a while, but lately I've been ordering from Bakers Creek since they have free shipping now. Hope it continues. |
What were you thinking of ordering, gg? I had trouble with my password during the promo and they sent me another code so I could reorder. It's getting a little late to reorder some of my selections so I'm looking for ideas, and maybe I can help if we have some overlap.

I get my tomato rootstock seeds from Johnny's and just make sure to add any others I need (usually lettuce and herbs) so that I can take advantage of a free shipping offer when it's available.

Thanks, anyway -- I do appreciate it. I only found one item that I was interested in for this year -- the "newly resurrected" Wisconsin 55 tomato. I used to grow it frequently, and always thought it was a good performer. Anyway, I've got probably twice as many candidates as I will probably end up growing out.
Several years ago I ordered a few packets of seeds (only), and the shipping was something like $6. I complained and they refunded my shipping. I know it costs them money to ship seeds, but $6 for a little bubble-wrap mailer? I do think that overall, the sellers have become more cognizant of consumers being ticked off by high shipping charges for mailing small packets of seeds. Maybe except Johnny's... |
The free shipping offer ($50 minimum order) is on again until 12 March 2019.

I'm all set for the year/season. But if you are a year round micro/salad grower they have
such quality seed it is worth it. One pound each of triton and daikon radish, 2or3 peas, and black oil sunflower, then some various other small packets will easily fill 50. I used the free shipping last month. 5 pounds of seed will easily keep you in micro greens all next winter. Same seed can be grown out for spring full-size growing. |
