Diatomaceous Earth

I happened to look closer at back of these 27 year old cuke seeds and rad in fine print that they had been treated with DE. I know alot of seed is treated with Thiamin and and a few other chems, but this is first time I seen treated with DE.

I have no idea how the process for that works, but wondered does anybody treat their seed with DE before sowing and would their be benefits to maybe doing it?

I know some grains are stored with DE for pests hatched while in storage. Maybe moisture control? Sounds interesting...
