Those look very nice and I am also still getting some really nice looking tomatoes but they are now taking a long time to ripen evenly. Mine are a bit tangier than in the summer but still good. I know this will end suddenly with a real cold front coming through before too long even if the drought doesn't kill them all first.

This year Indian Stripe PL, Spudakee, JD's Special C Tex, and Arkansas Traveler have been really bountiful in the fall for me. I usually have really good luck with Berkeley Tie Die Pink but this year my grafts with it didn't succeed so I didn't actually have any to plant this summer for the first time in years. Many of the black tomatoes are very successful in the fall like Carbon and some of the ones mentioned above as long as you don't have too much rain which is a rare thing in the fall down here. I always plant a mix of pinks, reds and blacks in my plantings after April so I will have some that will do well no matter what the weather brings in the fall. Usually the black tomatoes surpass the others but occasionally you get a wetter and cooler late summer and fall and it is good to have some varieties that handle those conditions better.

I, too, have had a very productive fall. Just wondering is the 2 pink striped varieties taste the same. I am a big fan of Sweet Carneros Pink and would love to see it in a larger tomato.

Here are my fall tomatoes. I dodged a hard frost last weekend. The frost blanket did the trick. Grow baby grow.

Glad to see your plants are loaded too. Having a early harvest this season here in south Florida so far. Beautiful weather and all is good so far. The Amazon Chocolate and Cherokee Purple are loaded. Haven't had this early harvest since 2012. Hope it continues. Last year we had over 9 inches of rain in Jan. and the plants and tomatoes were doomed.

Holy, holy, holy.

mecktom November 23, 2016 07:11 PM

They look unbelievably delicious, Douglas!

Gardenboy November 24, 2016 06:03 AM

You are right Mecktom...You should know. They are good for making salsa!!!:surprised:

All the tomatoes look great. Keep the pictures flowing.

Doug - Unbelievable that you have big ripe fruit now They must have set fruit when it was still really warm.

Gardenboy November 24, 2016 04:48 PM

Yes, been real good fruit set so far. Usually don't get ripe fruit until middle of December. Planted seeds by Aug 10th. Very good weather so far and cool nights helping the fruit set. I am growing a variety call Roskoff..kind of a cherry variety but larger. I have over 30 tomatoes on this one plant..incredible fruit set. I've all ready had about 7 tomatoes of Cherokee Purple ripen. Had them for breakfast with fried eggs and grits and love ripe tomatoes with cottage cheese. Hope the weather continues. Last year we got over 9 inches of rain in Jan. and the plants didn't recover. Hope all is well in your area. :)

Nice tomatoes. I hope the weather is nice for all of us, besides the light frost we had a few days ago the weather has been great.
