Rodger's lovely home

The porch was huge and a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the BLT's

Some folks made themselves comfortable on the lawn and shared their chocolate zucchini bread. It was really good!

There were lots and lots of people enjoying the music, the food, and talking tomatoes.

BLT's!

It took me a while, but I finally spotted Rodger. He was busy giving tours, explaining how to grow the many beautiful flowers in the yard, and how to keep deer out of the garden.

I caught a quick glimpse of his wife, she was busy frying up bacon and taking care of the many visitors.

The bluegrass band. They added a perfect note to the gathering.

The flowers were spectacular. Pictures can't do them justice, the flower beds went on and on.

Thank you, Rodger, for hosting such a fun and informative event! I know it's a tremendous amount of work for you and your family, and my sister and I really appreciated all your efforts.

Tomato Tasting in South Carolina

Rodger, You all just out did your selves! Nothing but outstanding from what I can see in these documented pictures! Oh, how I wish I could have been there with you all! I had suggested/encouraged several folks who love and grow tomatoes in your area to attend. I look forward to hearing about the varieties shared and any other information you all are able to share.
I will be looking forward to seeing you both at the October meeting in Berea, Kentucky.
Have a great Summer! I don't know how it could get any better.

I'm thrilled to see all the photos of the event, as well as Rodger's wonderfully landscaped yard. Thanks for sharing the photos and I hope to hear from more of those who attended, too.

What a great looking set of photos there. Looks like it was
a very enjoyable time. I too hope to hear more about the
tomato tasting and what other's impression was.
Perhaps I should plan a road trip for next year..... Hmmm! :)

Very nice! I can only imagine the labor of love that went into that home and yard.

rodger July 18, 2010 08:13 AM

I want to say thanks to everyone that came and especially to those who helped out and brought tomatoes., Holly, Millard and others and Ican't think of off hand. I wish I could have had more time to talk individually with everyone but when there is about 125 people it is hard to speak to everyone. but I did enjoy talking to those that persisted. There was one guy wearing a tomatopaloza shirt but I never had the chance to speak to please respond so I can know who you are. The ban was great the day was fantastic and the people were ......... Hungry. We went through 40lbs of bacon and ran out. I apologize if you didn't get to make a BLT but my wife did say several people just made a good Tomato sandwhich. Thanks again and anyone else with pictures please post and let me know what you thought. Rodger

PS here is a link to my website look under tomato tasting to see some pictures my nephew took. The website was started back in March but I find it hard to spend much time at the computer with the gardens and my full time job so it is still a work in progress.
