The little tomatoes who thought they were sunflowers
 

I while ago I had several tomato plants who were abandoned by their parents. The orphans were raised by a family of sunflowers. Apparently, they aren't sure what they are. I believe they are suffering from Species Dysphoria. :?!?:

It IS Utah, sure the aliens did not pop in????

Those are truly unique! What are your plans for them?

I've seen that twice in my garden, over the years. Once with Stick, and once with another indeterminate that I can't recall.

Given that it is Utah, I would have suspected aliens except that they were raised by sunflowers. ;)

Since they are all from the same batch of F2 seeds, there has to be a genetic component to it, not just a one-off. So, I'm going to hope they stay small (the middle one is only 5" tall), grow them out and see what the next generation looks like.

It may not be anything new, but it's something I've not seen before. And they will probably put out additional blossoms and spoil the uniqueness. :(

Those are awesome, dfollett! :D I don't know if sunflowers are dutiful parents, so do please be a good uncle and make sure they get watered.. ;)8-)

If it does, then both of us are strange. I hope they ripen that single tomato and don't grow any more blossoms.:yes:

Did they only have one fruit or eventually put out more blossoms?
