Homemade Fish Emulsion?
 

Our sons are going to bring out some channel catfish to clean and cook. I'll try not to make this sound gross, but have any of you ever tried to make your own fish emulsion from the unused parts of fish? It would be nice if we can make our own.

oooh yikes. would it not attract pests, cats, flies etc etc.?
odour issues too I think. wow.

Maybe if you bury the fish bits but even then I would be worried some critter would try to dig it up and make a mess of the garden.

I've been thinking of that too Karen. I also read that it breaks down to a NPK of 4-1-1. I don't want a whole lot of leaves and very few tomatoes.

I'll have to give this idea a lot more thought and research.

Applaud the desire, but unless you have an issue with animals that would dig them up, burying them is a whole lot easier and very effective.

But if you figure out a practical way to do a home brew, sans the smell, I am all ears. :-)

Opossum are the third largest population in Texas and they're all headed to Salts house.:))

I'm not sure that going through all the trouble would be worth it or not. Finding a place to do it would be easy out where we live. However, just burying the fish scraps would be much easier.

I've been up sense 6am and it's just past midnight. But I have to key in this last reply before crashing tonight:

I have not seen an opossum here in nearly two years. An hour ago, I opened the door to let the cats in to eat and sleep overnight in the protection of our home. (We have a bad coyote and large cats problem here.) I opened the door, and I see this HUGE opossum that was very slow. It had more dark than white in its fur. It was so slow, I could have gone out and petted it.

I have , beide a swampfilter, also a Bioforce Revolution filter for my Koi.
I turn the handle and get a good fertiliser ;) no kidding, all the fish poop you want
