corn gone

Augghhhh!, My neighbors goats got out of their pen today and devoured my sweet corn, it was about 6 inches high and doing great, I was really looking forward to some early sweet corn. Now I guess I'll replant and eat corn about 3 weeks later:( It could have been worse I guess, they didn't touch anything else..........

Well, you are fortunate it wasn't 3 feet high, and too late to plant again.

However, if it happens again, I would take out my Cookbook and look up the chapter: "Goat Stew"....

I have a recurring feral pig problem that starts every year, right about now. If I had goats too, I think I'd be putting in an Argentine style chivo spit next to the luau pit. Two birds, one stone and all that.

Well I replanted the corn in another spot and let the corn that was nipped off alone to see what would happen, it seems to be coming back pretty well. Hopefully it will still make a good harvest if the goats don't get out again. :)

Here is a pic of the corn the goats nipped off, it is about 3 ft high and doing well, the stalks in the center did not get nipped off as bad as the ones in the outside rows.
