Then there was the lady on garden web many years ago.
Her tomatoes were screaming hot and she was convinced they crossed with hot peppers.
We all said that it wasn't possible.
I said that maybe her husband had pulled a prank on her.
She said there was no way he would do that to her.
About a day or two later she came back on line and said her husband had injected hot pepper juice into her tomatoes while they were on the vine right before she picked them.:))

I used to do the same thing with cut carrots.
I would mix some from the pepper jar in with my dads carrots when he wasn't looking.

[QUOTE=Cole_Robbie;527033]Carolina Reaper struck me as more of an ornamental than an edible. If I was going to eat something that hot, the ghost peppers I grew next to it looked a lot more edible, thicker-walled, and easier to work with.

My Ghost Plants were bigger and more robust than the reaper plants too. They are hotter than i really need or want and I probably couldn't tell you which was hotter in a taste test

Looks like I will be making Carolina Reaper jelly this year, instead of Orange Habenero.

I need to come up with a good recipe to make hot pepper jelly with citric acid and not vinegar.
Something like lemon or lime juice plus canning citric acid.

seeds came today!

The seeds arrived today
THANKS
I will attempt to germinate some today,
It usually takes ghost peppers 2-3 weeks to pop, I assume the reapers
will be the same?
I have been eating ghost, tabasco and W.A. reds for several
months now and last week I ate a couple fresh habeneros. I just don't feel
the burn? I can't wait to eat a reaper! I also ate a half dozen jalepenos last week
and they taste like bell peppers. My kids say I don't have taste buds?
I really appreciate the seeds

I only know one old cowboy that can eat them without flinching. If you can do it that will be two. Good luck but be careful they bite.

Have to agree on that the ghost I have no trouble eating whole either. On the other hand the reaper is a different beast and a much more vicious burn and it lasts a lot longer.
