Nice Purple Cross

Last season as my one of my Cherokee Purple Plants began to bear fruit it was apparent that it was not Cherokee Purple at all. It was a tennis ball size pink fruit. I was pretty sure I hadn't mixed my seeds or seedlings so I called this one an accidental cross and grew it again this year. Here is the result. A nice round Purple cross that is really delicious. Sweeter than CP and fruity. Going to keep this going.

Looks a lot like pink Berkeley tie dye
No chance of a stray seed?

No never had any variety of this type. Last season F1 was a solid pink.

It's very pretty and with great flavour sounds promising for sure.

Did the F1 pink have any stripes? I'm trying to think what it was crossed with. Should be something like a pink with stripes (or maybe a pale yellow with stripes?). I thought the stripe gene partly shows when heterozygous but maybe not. (so I think the pink F1 should have had a bit of striping as well)

I didn't notice any striping on the F1 at all. Another F2 of this variety this year was pink with no striping or hint of purple at. Basically it looked like last season's F1. It was not so great on taste so I won't continue with that line. This purple striped fruit is really delicious and beautiful.

Do you have a pic of sliced fruit?

I wouldn't give up on it just yet. It often happens that taste can skip a generation, and be back for the next one. I have seen that happen quite a but, and many is the hopeful segregate that gets abandoned because if that. Bill Jeffers taught me that through reading his posts.

Beautiful tomato. Do you have to spray for fungi diseases?

Also looks a bit like GGWT to me, possibly?
