Nepal x Tommy Toe cross

Heres a pic of the crop from the last few days. Its as prolific as Tommy Toe thats for sure. A big plus is that the fruit pull off the vine clean, whereas with TT the centre would pull out of the fruit. They taste better as well and theres plenty more to come. Oh, that white one in the middle is a golf ball :D

Salad size

Interesting Manto. They are golf ball sized. Good for a salad. Is the taste zippy like a Nepal?

Mantis February 16, 2006 06:03 AM

Sure is Grub. Sort of side of tounge thing with a lingering aftertaste. Great little salad tommy and have oven dried some with great results too.

Okay

Well, I better try growing at least one next season. But won't there be all kinds of odd segregations going on then?

Mantis February 16, 2006 05:09 PM

Still got plenty of the F1 seeds if you want some. I will grow out a few F2's to see what happens.

F2

Are you trying an F2 in your fall patch? Then I can try an F3 in my spring patch. Should be earlyish. But with those genes I don't know what else it could possibly throw out but a small-medium red ball. Then again, I struggle with tomato genetics.

I struggle too. I thought if I crossed Nepal and Tommy Toe both round reds that I would get a round red. These are slightly ribbed and slightly flattened like Russian Reds.
No, I am not trying any F2's in the fall crop as I want to grow out about 8 plants to see what segregates. I will do this next spring.
I have 5 of my Brandywine X College Challengers in the greenhouse fall crop. I hope the cross took. :?

Ribbed for Extra Pleasure

Ribbed? You pay extra for that
