This is getting ridiculous. :o:)) Very early on I labeled this one D.O.T. on my seed map as well as potting up. Been through my entire seed bin of packets, twice. Twice through Tatianna's alphabet. Sample Seeds D's. D.O.T. ? WTF, we've been calling it 'Dept. of Transportation'. :? Here is a pic, two of them and a BlackVernissage on their right. AmethystCreamCherry above for scale. |
Dot's Delight?

Nice try. I just first learned of Dot's Delight looking for D.O.T. :?::twisted:
(it's like humming a song...I'm hopping to pass this on to someone else,) |
Ha ha! It didn't really look right, but.....
Do you keep your seeds in alphabetical order? Might be your best bet to have a rummage through. I always keep a baggie with all the seed packets from seeds I have grown. It helps to be able to go back and make any relevant notes on them for the future :) Let us know what DOT turns out to be! Linda |

Drop Of Tear ?

"Delectation of Tomatoes". Start there, then zone in on the variety :)

Intending to search Tanias's varieties when I googled I came up with these multiflora's, some of them I'd never heard of before.
https://www.google.com/search?q=Multiflora+tomatoes&hl=en&cad=h No, nothing that matches DOT at Tania's site. Yes Dot's Delight was there, I've grown it, but it's not a DOT, 3 word one.:) Carolyn |
Could that be O.O.T.?

Was it a dwarf?

All my tomatoes are Dwaft this year, (:)))
DOT is at the farm in the Catskills where the main garden is. One of the newer back beds. Where I plant new varieties. Two plants labeled DOT are producing now right next to PIN. That was easy back during planting in June. PINapple from saved seed brought back in luggage from the Greenville SC farmers market. Just expected to have figured it out by now. Usually any mystery I can figure out once fruiting. Dotson'sLH is DL and a drawn heart shape. Worst season ever at the farm. Early fruits in bad shape, plants never took off but many varieties are rallying for a Sept harvest having lots of healthy new foliage and flowers. |
I think I figured this out. Thought I would up-date.
The French Dona F1 hybrid. I probably wrote DO F1, and speedy so hard to read what I wrote. Only thing that makes sense after going through sent seed from members that I keep separate from others. I like to keep those filed together for later 'thank you's.' Matches some pics on-line in a google image search. Nice tomato and will grow again with the few seeds sent that I have left to further solve this mystery. Good harvest and pulled through the early ugly diseases. Minor stem end 'checking' but did not affect the fruit. |
I grew Dona F1 this year and it tasted scrumptious! It was very productive and had beautiful round red tomatoes :)
