And 7 days after planting the first Shish-ito peppers start to emerge this morning. I removed the plastic wrap, these were some of the seeds I won in the online contest last summer / fall along with the Black Sea Man tomatoes that are in the tray next to them. Here's a pic. of the peppers nice to see everything coming up so quickly!

Go, tiny dudes, grow! I just planted pepper seeds on Saturday; hoping to see something like this soon. Congrats on the very quick peppers. ('maters, too) BTW, what did you have to do to win them?

I watch the Executive Gardener on You Tube and if I remember right it was a question about what mineral helps to prevent blossom end rot when growing tomatoes or peppers in a grow bag. Answer calcium nitrate added to potting mix.

Thanks lets see how this works out I've got about 10 weeks before I put them in grow bags.

I planted Feb.25th and my Hot Cayenne and Jalapeno have started to pop through but still waiting on my Nardello and Cubenella.I also started Jamaican Hot Red this past Sunday.Tomatoes will be started April 1st.Great success with your germination they look healthy.:D

I planted 5 kinds of super hot pepper seeds in one of those 72 hole trays (about 2 seeds in each hole).

I kept them on a heated pad and watered when needed.

Some varieties never germinated.

Some germinated and got about an inch tall and then lay down and died.

A few (maybe 20) are still doing OK.

I have concluded that hot pepper is hard to grow from seeds.

Jerry, sounds like you had plants damping off. It's a fungus (? I think). Cinnamon has antifungal properties. I sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on the top of the soil when sowing seeds. No more damping off, cheap, & smells nice.

Pepper seedlings grow so slowly :(
I don't understand it, their cotyledons are usually larger than the tomatoes'.

Thanks, I'll try that on my remaining tiny little pepper plants.
