Need Help with Greenhouse Sprinkler System
 

I am having a difficult time finding a 1/2 inch overhead sprinkler that will spray a mist instead of droplets of water. Looking for heads that will cover a 20 foot diameter circle to dispense a fine mist pattern. If any of you have experience with such an emitter system, I would appreciate a link to such products.

Look here and see what they have.
You may need to get a drill and tap to connect then to 1/2 line.
Remember radius if 1/2 the diameter.so if you want a 20 diameter you will be looking for a 10 foot radius.

Thanks for the link. It looks like they only have foggers which will distribute over a 4 foot diameter pattern. I need something which will emit over a 20 foot diameter. Mini foggers won't work - need something more "industrial strength" to pump out a large mist pattern.

The one I saw was a mister I cant find anymore.
One thing is if you are looking for a true foggier it is going to be hard to push a fog that far.
The laws of physics are against you.
Can you not just put the heads closer together?
Add more pipe?

"Fogger" is probably the wrong phrase. We need to mist chilled water onto the plants from overhead without having to run hundreds of feet of parallel pipe - so the 10 foot radius (20 foot diameter) seemed to be the optimum design goal. We need "mist" - not large droplets of water landing on the plants. (I keep thinking of your fire suppression work you did up on the North Slope some years ago...)

Raybo, I hope you have "soft water". To maintain a mist with a 20' radius is a tall order in a sustained situation as minerals build up inside the emitters.

The system will be on City water, so particulate/mineral filtration should be fine.

Regarding MarNar, I just planted out a pair of MarNar F7s last week along with 22 other tomato plants (Dwarf Metallica, Dona, Goose Creek, Carmello, etc.)

Small particles of water are much more difficult to throw 20' through the air. Mist doesn't really move unless carried by air.

I don't know how small of a mist you need, but about 35 psi is required to make the smallest particle size of mist. A shallow well pump does the trick cheaply. But that mist would need a fan or some other force to move it around.

This may be way off base, but I don't understand why you would want mist in your greenhouse, when high humidity creates fertile breeding grounds for all sorts of fungi. I use drip irrigation.

Good lord I got lost in a bunch of technical information on misting nozzles I could look at for hours.:lol:

Google pictures of water misting in greenhouses or something.
In none of the pictures did I see anything 20 feet apart.

Not for sure what you want to do with the system or its purpose.

You might look into micro sprayers that may be what your wanting or could use.
They will put out the diameter you want.
I have used them before too.

One other thing you will want o go to with what they call head to head coverage for most things to get a full coverage.
This means you will still have to go to the heads being around ten feet apart or you will end up with dry spots.
I put my yard sprinklers in with head to head coverage.

With a mist system the stuff just sort of floats around before it hits the plants depending on how high up the heads are.
The water mist I used for fire protection was running off 2000 PSI air tanks.
