Due to space limitation, I had to go through severe selection process to decide which varieties to grow this season - some on my new (smaller) balcony, some on my parents' patio..

I tried to choose as different ones as possible, plus some new to me experiments.

Mom, all sprouted and growing happily:

Big Beef F1
Ceresa Amarilla
Indian Stripe
Pink Tiger
Terhune

Antonovka didn't germinate, so I might add another one to the mix. Garden peach perhaps or another green one.

My balcony, sown later and no life yet:

Lotos
Lyona (Rozovyi)
Novichok
Pink Pearly Orange
Bundles of Chocolate - a Russian cherry

Might add one more, IF I can succesfully place them all on my balcony without constantly knowcking the containers over.:D

Of the later batch, Lyona, Lotos and the Russian 'Bundles of Chocolate' are up. I am hoping that the two other seeds will follow and not get cooked in the hot window sill...

Have people grown Lotos? I got it from Andrey and the description on Tatiana's looks really good.

We grew Lotos here a couple of years ago, it was well received. :) Bit of a unique taste or so my friend thought at her farm. Mine were smaller beefs, nice tasting and pretty. It's the only white I've ever grown. I would/will grow it again, if I had the space (or when the space comes around again..:wait:).

Great to hear it was uniquely tasting in a good way! :) I haven't grown any white beesteaks before (just some pale yellow dwarfs), so I am glad of my choice.
How large did it get in your conditions?

I didn't weigh them but I'm guessing mine were 4-6 oz. At the farm they got a lot bigger, but that's always the case.

How about the plant?

Nice PL.

OK. I'm hoping mine grows large enough, without getting huge :) I'll try to keep it contained in one corner of my balcony, and place the smaller ones around it...

Some more varieties added ..

For Mom: Grusha Oranzhevaya (she expressed interest in a orange colored cherry tom - black cherry types are not her cup of tea...)

For me:
Amber Colored - never succeeded in germinating this one before
Novichok Rozovyi (an oval shaped pink, det)

I'm curious how your Ceresa Amarilla turns out, I've had the seeds but keep deciding on something else to grow instead.

At this point, it is the largest, most advanced seedling of them all.
Definitely showing the PL trait.

Another PL, Terhune, sown in the same day, is doing well too, but nothing like CA..

Wow, good to know, I've been pleasantly surprised by my Tasmanian Chocolate and Southern Night seedlings as well.

My Southern Night (supposed to be determinate) seedlings are actually more robust than my Bloody Butcher's so I'm curious if it's a stray seed or something... Time will tell.

Quick update: All is growing well, but some seedlings are stuck. We are expecting a heat wave over thr weekend, so I am hopeful they will pick up their growth.

Amber colored, Grusha Oranzhevaya and Novichok Rozovyi all germinated, as did the late addition of Orange Paruche.
