eggplant flower question
 
Are eggplant flowers self fertile in the same way that tomatoes are?

Yes.:)

They also make great grasshopper traps they will eat the eggplant and ignore the tomatoes until the eggplant are gone.

I remember grasshoppers when I was a kid. There were zillions of tem all over the place in summer. Now I can't remember the last time I saw one, they altogether disappeared.
I don't recall them ever bothering tomato or eggplants. Must be those big Texas grasshoppers that are the troublemakers.
