where is everyone?
I have unfortunately been slack in posting due to some health reasons and have not been on the site much over the last couple of years. Surely everyone else on here isn't as old as I am and getting sidetracked with health problems.
I see almost no new post since last summer. Did something happen to cause this drop in traffic? I am feeling better now and was looking forward to seeing what was going on in the wide wide world of tomatoes only to find almost nothing new to see or hear about on Tomatoville. Bill |
I visit several gardening sites and traffic seems to drop off every year between harvest and spring. We seem to hibernate during the cold weather season. I have been planning earlier this year than most years but still my on-line traffic is much less than during the growing seasons.
It is good you are feeling better...keep posting. |
They probably went to another website.

Time I think.
Some reasons to consider.
Passings of members. Switched sites as mentioned above. The viruses slowed down elderly gardeners I included. Not too much new members and info is quicker nowadays than good old archives here. A lot of groups had no gatherings, hence the removal. Banned members I guess from using site for own interests. Free site,no adds and the such. All I can said. |
Thanx to Mischka for footing the bill all this time.

I'm lurking. I had about 700 plants in the ground last year between tomatoes and peppers. One tomato was interesting. St. LLorenz de Colgar is a tomato with thick outer walls and the alc gene for long storage. It is a red tomato with 2 seed locules about 2 inches diameter or a tad larger. Production was good and flavor was well above average. Combining storage with thick outer walls and good flavor is rare. I want very much to make some crosses with it this year.

Bill....I hope you keep posting ! I've always enjoyed your informative posts for many years. I'm getting older also and my gardening is slowing down just like me.

Hi Bill,
:) KarenO |
I lurk. Mainly cold season.Mainly sick of many duplicate questions. Mainly reduced volume here as site looked to be going away, but thankfully Mischka kept it alive!

Thanks for the replies. It's good to see I'm not the only old codger still gardening but it does get harder every year.

I am back ..long story

Hi Bill. I hope you are doing better.
I know it's not fun being old. I have been there. Anyway. I have had difficulty signing in. Somehow I got through. And look gorward to 2024 season discussions. I have ordered some seeds and already got itch to to get started in a few weeks. Last couple of years I had bad experience ..heat deasis.. But I am not giving up. I am glad to be back. To read and learn more. Take care now. |
Hi Bill, Sorry to hear you've been having health issues. I hope things are settling down now. I pop in about once a month just to see what's new. Not a lot happening here since the loss of Carolyn and the launch of an another tomato forum. Not sure if the new forum is still active, but Tomatoville is a goldmine of historical information and I'm grateful to find it still here whenever I drop in.
I hope you have a great season! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I am retired, but like to think my brain still works ok. I used to post on a dozen or so sites...a couple of "maker" sites, a music site or two, one devoted to power equipment use or repair, current events, and gardening.
Most are moribund: I think the video sites draw a lot of us away. A couple are still active, but overwhelmed by political rancor. I have political preferences, I guess, but am not particularly interested in rancor. I just walk away. I am, however, interested in the tomato Daryl described: l grew 3 storage types last year and can report still having a few left. Except a behind-the-former-iron-curtain type called Zimnye Chudo...they all became BLT's, etc. They were the best tasting. And all were superior to Burpee Long Keeper. Now off to Google the variety Daryl shared... Sent from my motorola edge (2022) using Tapatalk |
I am here, but Starting my Green House Plants and Legal Work, Amen!!
It is good to see everyone again!!! Keep "Posting" to keep us all learning new things, Amen!! |
