Joe's long cayenne pepper seeds
:yes:Has anyone grown these? The nursery that I bought my Thai dragon peppers closed for good and I was looking for a hot pepper to make hot sauce, add to my tomato sauce and chili.Joe's long is not as hot but looks interesting. Will have to look for some seeds.:)

Pretty good pepper and prolifIc. I live near you, in Cleveland and it grows well here. I have seed I can send you, PM me if interested.

Thank you,I sent a PM.Have been looking at some sites. These look just like the Thai Dragon pepper I have grown in the past.I think they may have been mislabeled The plant said Dragon pepper but when I looked up the Thai dragon pepper it was a short pepper. The ones I grew where very long.I did not save seeds 2 years ago when I last grew them.I did not buy any plants last summer and then found out the nursery closed this summer. They were the only place I ever saw this plant offered. Then I came across Joe's long cayenne on a search and they look like the same pepper.

I grew Big Thai Hot last year, they look just like a cayenne only hotter with more flavor. I got over 300 peppers per plant, they are a hybrid from Burpee. |
I don't know where the nursery got the seeds from. The pepper was offered for a few years that I saw them. But I might stop and see if his daughter knows anything.I think they still have the building.I believe the owner retired and may have moved. They had a lot of heat but great flavor. One pepper was all you needed in a huge pot of chili and I put them in my tomoto sauce.;)

neoguy has kindly offered me some seeds.I'll save plenty from those plants. They look to be the same pepper. It grew very long and had about 20 or 30 peppers at all times .The plant grew very tall.

I am almost sure it also goes by the name long red cayenne available at TGS.

I'm the one who first introduced Joe's Long Cayenne and Joe's Round

Nope Worth, not the same as long red cayenne from TGS. Anyone interested can do the same search for Joe's Round also called Amazzo, wrongly, by some places.Well, I just did it https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1384&bih=788&q=joes+round+pepper&oq=joes+round+pepper&gs_l=img.3...2458.13693.0.19392.17.17.0.0.0.0.130.1728.2j14.16.0....0...1.1.64.img..1.9.857...0j0i10k1j0i10i30k1j0i5i10i30k1j0i5i30k1j0i8i30k1j0i10i24k1.O7VWWFqAXIQ Top row,the two on the left https://www.google.com/search?q=joes+round+pepper&hl=en&biw=1384&bih=788&site=imghp&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiC4Ib9gobRAhVDNSYKHWfmCWQQ_AUIBygA&dpr=1 above the links. The two have become very popular as you can see from the Google links. Carolyn |
Those look just like what I bought as a Thai Dragon pepper.Very tall plant loaded with very long hot but great tasting peppers.I saw Carolyn's name mentioned in an article about Joe's long cayenne.I was hoping they would be the same pepper.I froze a gallon size freezer bag of these that lasted a year.Hope I can repeat that stash again.

I stand corrected.

Something must of happened as I PM neoguy twice and had no response.I'm heading down to Amish country and to a hardware store that sell seeds, they may have them there.I'm having some problems with not getting enough rehab for my knee replacement and need to walk more. The trip down there should help but the weather is giving my knee problems.:no:It's been 4 weeks today I had surgery and I'm coming along fine.Had the same problems with my first knee replacement this past March.

Hey cjp the holidays happened, I didn' forget about you. I'll try to get the seeds out by Friday. And I know I sent a response to your PM, maybe I hit the wrong button.
|
I just checked, my response to your PM was never sent. My mistake.
