Mixed up right here in the sink ....

So I thought I saw the first signs of white fly! I do not want to go through that again. So I checked the local HD and Lowe's, no yellow sticky traps. I'm an impatient sort and couldn't wait for the Amazon Man to deliver. I didn't want Those Who Shall Be Nameless gain a foothold. So made my own.

I had yellow construction paper from project of my wife's and cooked corn syrup and water down to a sticky sludge. I added a smidge of petroleum jelly to increase its viscosity. Punched some holes and painted it on the paper. Voila! Yellow sticky traps!

Yes, it would be great if I don't have to buy them.

Ooh, I hope that works. I make my own, too, but I use yellow plastic cups from the party store and a rubber-cement-like coating that has to be mail-ordered: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Tanglefoot-Tangle-Trap-Sticky-Coating-Can-with-Brush-Cap-300000588A/301531540

Did you see this review for the tanglefoot? I laughed out loud and my cat stared at me, lol

"After 3 days, the cutter ants had figured out to cut the leaves and lay the pieces over the glue. Bought 3 cans, only have one left. These boogers are smart! It's good stuff, but the y are smarter than it's creator. I will continue to buy it because so far it's the best that I have found on the market."

Cutter ants must be really smart, lol. I got a kick out of this.

You can also just use the Vaseline alone, it works great!

I too use Tanglefoot. I put it on old Christmas ornaments and hang them in the greenhouse. It works far better than anything else I have tried.
I also put Tanglefoot on the rim of clear cups that have a little fruit juice in them. Works great to eliminate fruit flies in the kitchen or any place I am storing fruit.

Sadly, I went out this morning, and it no longer is sticky. Oh well back to the drawing board

It is a joke, I use mineral oil and kerosene for everything and post about it all too often here.
I even use it to kill aphids on ornamental plants.
