Don't think I've seen anyone post about this new family run seed store so I thought I'd post a link to it. They have many interesting new varieties including some of their own crosses. [COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]Not to babble on, but in their "gardening tips" section (that is beautifully written) talks about not planting your seeds too deep reminds me of a similar story. My Master Gardener Training tells me to plant my tomato plants deep, a gardening friend Etta Fears a 94 y/o woman does the opposite. She cant bend over anymore so when she is ready to plant her tomatoes she buys a 4 pack pulls them out of their plastic cells and drops them on the ground and puts a shovel of dirt on top of them. Done. Of course we are all in shock because she is doing it ALL wrong but you should see her garden. Fabulous.[/FONT][/COLOR]

I saw the link at another site, took a look and wondered if I knew Steve b'c of some of the varieties he listed, and posted that at that site, with actually more detail.

Before I could even get back to look at the rest of the site he called me, what a surprise, and we talked for over an hour. One of the subjects we discussed is whether one should list varieties with their English translations, or otherwise, and that b'c he had listed First Love, which is the English translation of Pervaya Lyubov which I've offered here in my seed offer the past couple of years.

He does have specialized training in genetics and I know is working on several breeding projects simultanously.

And I really must go back and read all at the site.:)

I would've ordered today, but DH will be home alone for weeks and I cannot risk the eye roll...thinks I have "plenty" of seeds - perhaps even ENOUGH has escaped his lips...:no:

So, I hope the selection rocks when I am home to intercept the mail!

Well, as Carolyn said, I saw it mentioned on another site as new and just up and running. Since I found it very well done and very interesting with beautiful pictures and many intriguing, new and tempting varieties, how could I not make sure that all of you knew about it, too?!:D 'Tis the season for ordering seeds!:cute:

And better you than me posting it here b'c as a Global Mod here I don't want to be seen as promoting any new particular seed site and never have except for calling attention to Adam's Gleckler's new site which someone before me actually linked to. I was just so thrilled to see the Gleckler name back in business for it has a long distinguished history going back to Adam's grandfather who started it in the 40's and then it passed to Adam
s father , whom I did know, and who did subcontract seed production for several well known seed sites including TGS. Before I discovered SSE the two best places to buy seeds from in the early 80's were Gleckler's and Seeds Blum.

Fact is, there are always those who will find something to criticize someone about something, and have done so and no doubt will do so in the future,so I look behind me as I travel forward.:lol:

And yes, I think Steve has done a terrific job at his new site.:)

:? Carolyn, is there a reason I shouldn't have posted this link? I don't know Steve and had no other reason to share this info other than to let others like me know about another source of cool sounding seeds. What's up? I don't read between the lines very well.:o

Yes I got a real chuckle out of that line also.:yes: There were other, more subtle, like the reference to politics and gardening not mixing. I think I love this guy :love:

Kath, I thought I was reasonably clear as to what I said, so I'll say it another way, I'm glad that you posted the link to the site, I probably saw it before you did b'c I'm not exactly sure which other message site you refer to and it doesn't really matter.

And I went on to say that better you than me ( posting it), for the reasons I gave.

No reason to try to read between the lines b'c I think I was pretty straight forward in what I said, so I'll repeat it again, better you than me giving the link , and that, again, for the reasons I noted.:)

Well, I'm relieved that I didn't transgress any Tomatoville rules about promoting specific sites or anything, Carolyn. Your mention of criticism was confusing to me even after I reread the the post a couple times- thanks for clearing things up for me, though. ;)

Tania, I don't think there was a mutual conclusion but I do see his point.

Lets take what I know as Pervaya Lyubov.

One goes from the original name written in Russian to the translation of that to Pervaya Lyubov to the English translation of that to First Love.

He listed it as First Love, whereas I would list it as Pervaya Lyubov ( First Love)

So two translations from the original name in Russian.

I suppose each person who deals with names written in a language other than English has a preference as to how they then list or offer such varieties.:)
