A low cost alternative for seeds

2 Attachment(s)
The people here have been so helpful here I want to try in a way to pay it forward. I found a seed supplier that has many different varieties of vegetable seeds and the price will knock your socks off just .99 cents per pack! Varieties of tomato, pepperand so many others, I got my seeds at www.migardener.com give them a look.

...just take their claims with myriad grains of salt ("85 year old seeds").

Koala Doug, I've used their seeds for 2 yrs now and I've had zero issues with germination or yield with there seeds. Its a low cost seed alternative I thought I'd share with the people here.

jetstar, there was a problem with your spelling and link, your link went to a magazine when I knew you were referring to Karen Golden's website.

http://www.michiganheirlooms.com/

Many of us knew Karen from a couple of decades ago, and many of us helped her with background info for this or that when she first went online.

I could do a search to find when she was last here at Tville, but I have to move along on my priority list, but I do hope I've clarified the issue.:)

I tried your link and again it takes me to, it looks like Michigan newsletter.

Your link above is spelled migardener.com

I almost gave up but decided to try Google .

This is what I get when I Google Karen and her website

Strange every time I use that link www.migardener.com it takes me to migardener home page where seeds and other gardening stuff is available is anyone else having problems? :?

CamuMahubah May 2, 2018 08:45 PM

When I click the link I get the MIGardener seed store. He is the guy from YouTube that grew the supposedly really old seed. He does have good price.

Jetstar May 2, 2018 10:45 PM

CamuMahubah, Glad to know the link that I posted works, I was starting to worry I was the only person able to visit it. And yes CamuMahubah there prices on seeds from migardener are really great!

Jetstar May 2, 2018 11:49 PM

CamuMahubah, your right last year migardener grew a 87yr old Giant Crimson tomato plant from seed. I had no idea seeds that old could still be good, the guy knows a lot about growing from seed.

No, he didn't.

He made some people believe he did on his Youtube channel - he is a shameless self-promoter and charlatan, after all.

Without deep freezing (like the type that well-funded seed vaults use), no tomato seeds sitting in a package at room temperature with regular humidity levels will be viable after 87 years.

nyrfan May 3, 2018 11:47 AM

I'll pass on purchasing from MIgardener.

His YouTube videos are filled with mis-information & hype and his website is poorly organized.

There is NO TOMATO PAGE! Search for tomato & only 20 varieties appear yet there are more than that on Vegetables page 1.

Jetstar May 3, 2018 12:28 PM

I'm by no means trying to defend the guy but Nyrfan the reason your not seeing only 20 available is simple, he's sold out the other tomato varieties he had for this year that you saw on page 1. Koala Doug I appreciate your insight on the 87yr. old tomato seeds anyway if he's a self promoter so what? Nothing wrong with tooting your own horn. I've bought seeds from him for the last 2yrs. and have had no problems with them, being able to buy seeds for my garden and getting them for less than 1.00 per pack is a good thing compared to what I've paid for seeds in the past its a real bargain! I try to always get the best for less and so far migardener hasn't let me down when it comes to buying seeds for my garden.

BINGO!!!

See if I remember correctly. He said he found seeds behind a picture on the wall and claimed they were that old,but after the person who linked to it here at Tville, many noted the type of frame, how the frame was constructed, which was not consistent with saying the frame was that old.And yes, I also remember that Worth was one of the nay sayers. Maybe he remembers even more than I do.

So how did I do re remembering?.If I had the time, which I don't,I bet I could find that thread here at Tville.:)
