Pepper X

Anyone heard anything about the newest super hot pepper? Pepper X
3.18 million scovilles... twice as hot as a Carolina Reaper! YIKES! I can't imagine eating one.

It's just another "special announcement" from Puckerbutt. They quote numbers and never source them. This time, though, there are pictures of more than one pod. So maybe there is progress somewhere.

At any rate, I won't get excited until Guinness or NMSU gets to test them.

I about died last year making Reaper jelly, I think I'm going to pass on making anything out of these when seeds are available.

Yeah, I like hot - as in really hot - peppers. But reapers are quite enough, thank you very much.

BTW, check out Chocolate Bhutlahs. I've had these, and they may be hotter than Reapers. Tasty too - for about 5 seconds.

We have grown California reapers, chocolate habaneros and ghost peppers. The California reaper was definitely hotter.

Have you tried the white peruvian habanero pepper?

I've grown white bhuts, but not white Peru habs. Are they intimidating?

I shared several of these with friends. Everyone found them very hot but not as hot as a ghost pepper.

They were very late to ripen here in Southern Ontario (100 days). They are small like a jelly bean.

There were hundreds on one plant--very high yielding.

My lungs are still messed up, must be scar tissue...

dmforcier September 28, 2017 12:23 AM

EPawlick, sounds like white bullet hab. A good hot pepper, but not really a superhot. Nothing to damage your lungs. ;)

Fortunately.

I'm surprised you were able to get a good yield that far north. Greenhouse?

I have grown all the top super hots and if seeds become available i will grow Pepper X too. Anyone know where to procure some seed?:D Sounds like this pepper is under serious lock and key.

Pepper X looks like one of Troy Primo's crosses, take a look at this and see for yourself.

You mean Tony Primeaux?[STRIKE] I don't see anything to connect him to that web site. But then, I'm not on FB so I'm not sure how to check.[/STRIKE]

Yeah, that's him.
