I read some of the comments and some of them said it was or could be a myth.

One thing is for sure not only carrots but many other things have went down the same road including tomatoes.
It is like we had all these different varieties and critters and one was picked out to represent the whole group.
Hardly no one knows there are long haired horses and cattle.

It's been a known fact that the Dutch overtook carrot growing and trading. Yes, they wanted their product to reflect the colors of the Royal Family.
I have seen an interesting site somewhere about the various carrot colors all around the globe, and how they spread.
So glad that dark and white carrots still exist today.
