2017 Mostly Mystery 'Mater Mailing
It's July, so it's time to at least start working on the "rules".
:elvis:Gary Fitzgerald:elvis: Rule one is don't PM me for my mailing address, or my PM box will get overloaded. :elvis:22 Francis St.:elvis: It's here between the Elvis smilies. :elvis:Westfield, MA 01085:elvis: (I think Elvis will keep any bots from phishing my address):?!?: Up next will be the different parts of the swap; wish lists, categories, Nifty Fifty categories, peppers, bonuses, other veggie/fruit/flower seed, along with packaging and mailing instructions. Anything new that anyone would like to add? |

Well he does wear Blue Suede-th Shoes. 8-) Yes, the first post is quite early. Dr. Love Apple must have too much time on his hands. |
Only ten days earlier than the 2016 MMMM start. Maybe this will translate into the procrasti... the participants sending packages in a little earlier.;):elvis:

Yes, the first post is quite early. Dr. Love Apple must have too much time on his hands.
Suede always sticks in my teeth something awful, <sigh> I might have to look for a nice wooden boat to bite for a tooth pick.... My back is itchy, maybe my fins are coming out early this year. |
Tormato, I'm in the process of saving a sharkload of seeds today.
|
Is a sharkload bigger or smaller than a boatload?:?!?:
And if bigger, would it be... You're gonna need a bigger boatload?;) Brody |

Last year I saved a buttload of seeds...a shark is much bigger, but not as big as a boatload...depending on the size of the boat. so hmm?
One variety might need a larger jar than the pint jar I'm about to put them in. This is what they are in now :?: |
Psst...it's the MMysteryMM. The label should be on the back of the jar.:?:
I'm thinking you might need a bigger container for your fermenting...perhaps a silver SCUBA tank...close the top...let the pressure build...Brody then can feed it to the... |

I had to use a quart jar. Is this better?

I like those jars....
Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear And it shows them pearly white Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe And he keeps it, ah, out of sight Ya know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe Scarlet billows start to spread Fancy gloves, oh, wears old MacHeath, babe So there's never, never a trace of red https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaxBVUOkyLs Pearlie Mae |
I love that song!

One of favorite singers of the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-lHrDPjGfQ
Never heard that version. Thanks for posting it. I have the Bobby Darrin version in my playlist. |
I'm thinking this thread should have about 40 posts by the time I get around to addressing the rules next week.:?: How did we drift off to Mack the Knife in only a day?:?!?: I'll have to keep track of the "important" post numbers from now 'til December. Post #1..., post #
My guess is it will be about 400 posts with about 4 relevant ones. |

Enjoy your swap. |
OKay, I thought it was okay to joke as Gary himself was, but will not do so in this thread anymoreif it is only for serious informative posts re the swap.
I'll step out. Sorry, Bye. |
Gotcha. No chatter. Serious business. No interfering with Gary's thread. Keep out. Because Gary has no sense of humor.
I'm so very sorry for offending you. I am done. |
Tormato, I understand. At first, I thought the best thing was to not reply. I do get carried away at saving seeds to share with others, and then I saw Imp's reply, and now Patti's. We should have let you post the rules before we posted. I am guilty about getting excited, and the tomato seed shark thing is a lot of fun.
|
I'll soon be starting a new thread "2017 MMMM Hybrids" for responses to those varieties.
|
I'm in! Late this year but have lots of greenies right now

The deadline, for packages to arrive here, is November 10th.
:roll:For procrastinators, it's November 1st. |
One question, please. Is this swap for American members only? I can't send American stamps, but US dollars to cover the postage.
|
No clara, I have been allowed to participate, even without any dollars - Tormato has been very generous and even paid the higher postage. (he deserves some extra chocolate for that!)
Perhaps you can also bribe him with some German-made delicacy? :) |
Basically anyone's welcome, although there might be a few countries with seed restrictions.
Postage (one way from USA) went way up for Canadian ($9+ US) and other foreign countries ($13+ US) last year. Since (I think) there won't be that many Europeans in the swap, I can send tomato and pepper seeds in a "greeting card" and envelope. I can put about 70 varieties into a greeting card with 1 Global Forever stamp (~$1.15? US), and if necessary can mail more than 1 greeting card. I'll address this further when I get around to posting the rules. |
Thanks for your replies, Narnian G. and Tormato! I am mainly interested in tomatoes, a few hot peppers and some herbs. Bigger seeds like those from peas, beans etc. only increase the postage too much - and I don't grow them, lack of space in my garden.
|
Where can I find the rules? Do the seeds I donate have to be saved, or can I send commercial seed I no longer want?
