looking for Thymbra
Anyone know where I can get seeds or starter plants for (I think) Thymbra capitatus? My son brought me back a couple of packets of dried herbs when he came back from a study trip to Tunis, and I think one of them is probably T. capitatus, common name Cone-head Thyme. It has a somewhat oregano-ish flavor, without the underlying 'kick' from ordinary thyme (Thymus).

search Spiked Zaatar
Thanks for the quick response, but that's the other one - I'm definitely looking for T. capitata, not T. spicata. (There were entire flower heads in the stuff my son brought home, so it's much more definitive than trying to ID your average crushed herb!) Yes, searching by za'atar in any spelling brings up more options. However, I think I've found a source, as Arrowhead Alpines lists it, and they were on my good list back when I was in ARGS. Now the question is, whether I'm prepared to pay $8 plus shipping, or how big the order might get to justify the shipping... |
