Urban Farmer Website

This website is re-packaging Johnny's Selected Seeds clearly denoted with a PVP designation, and re-selling them. They are also cutting and pasting photos from Johnny's website.

They are buying and re-packaging Lucky Tiger seeds purchased from Johnny's. There is no other way they could have these seeds, which they should not be selling.

I found a website tomato vendor by accident that was using another seed sellers pictures.
I contacted the seed seller by email of this and they thanked me and said they would get in touch with the offenders.

They seem to have poor feedback at the Garden Watch Dog including getting bagged doing fake reviews.

Fred Hempel February 14, 2014 05:24 PM

Dude needs to buy another computer for those fake reviews!

Worth1 February 14, 2014 05:39 PM

Ok who can and who cant sell these seeds?

I see them for sale here also with the same picture.

They are in violation too. Only Johnny's can sell Lucky Tiger and Sunrise Bumble Bee (PVP designated).

Anyone may save seeds for their own use. And trading seeds is no big deal either.

All other "Artisan" tomatoes (Pink Bumble Bee, Purple Bumble Bee, Blush, Pink Tiger, Green Tiger) are freely available for anyone else to sell.

Sucks to have your IP stolen. :x

Ken4230 February 14, 2014 06:30 PM

People are slick, their normal customer will never know

Johnny's: 40 seeds for $3.95
Urban Farmer: 20 seeds for $3.00
$1.00 a pack profit to repackage seeds, evidently they think it's worth it.
My integrity is worth a lot more than that.

Has anyone seen this image before?

This came from the new catalogue but pasted here now.I swear saw this image on a Danish Gardner(member) post years ago about some kind of Grandfather Ulmsteads market tomatoe.I grow the BHN 624 myself and it does not look anything like the image.I just think a lot of image reproductions are being done without some astute observations by well informed gardeners nowadays.

Kurt,

I am not sure why you want to turn this around. If you want accuse Johnny's of stealing the images of others, you might want to post proof, not "swear" that you've seen an image somewhere on a Danish website.

This thread is not primarily about images, anyway. It is about selling seeds one is not authorized to sell. The clear (and substantiated) image "borrowing" is secondary.

Fred, that is disappointing to see, especially such a fast turnaround. What kind of teeth does a PVP designation offer for enforcement?

Kurt, if you have a problem with Johnny's I recommend you contact them directly and don't post casual accusations on a public forum. Johnny's is a top-notch vendor in all aspects.

This is why in my post above I contacted the originator of the picture/vendor and asked them.
They told me that they did not give permission to these people and would contact them.
They also went on the tell me that they do give permission to people if they ask sometimes.
As far as I am concerned it is a private matter between me the offender and the owner of the picture.
The offender was just using the pictures to sell tomatoes or plants.
I dont even remember who they were and I dont think they meant to break any rules.

Never did accuse Johnnys Seeds.
I am a customer of Johnnys.
Did find the MetaData I was looking for.
It was not a Danish Website but a member here.
Again sorry if post was misinterpreted.
Will leave it at that.

Fred Hempel February 24, 2014 02:45 PM

Now they have taken down the Lucky Tiger photo they "borrowed" from Johnny's and they have replaced it with a Green Tiger photo from AP Whaley Seed. Good grief.
